Best smoker barges 1-5 large [Vol 15]
Discussion
I'm wondering if the "golden era" for an E500 estate passed 18-24 months ago, when all the usual places carried ads with them happily in thread. They seem thin on the ground now. This £2750 grey on grey example has gravel, a worn bolster, and I'm hoping it's the light meaning the front wing and door shine differently to the back.

Today I mostly saw (in a Waitrose car park) a Nissan QX. That's a car it's worth forgetting about. £2k. Not a looker.

Oh dear, it looks like it's meltedhttp://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2019...
The original Maxima was handsome and well proportioned and I quite fancied the 3.0, but that one is a melted blob. Nissan also massacred the Primera in the same way sadly.
In the 80s I liked the 2.4 Laurel and also the 300C.
P38 4.6 with working rear VHS. Get in! Pricey at £3700 when not mint but has potential.

We've featured this one... the towing eye in situ attracted much guffawing!http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2019...
Since I picked mine up, it has cost me on average about £400 to run EDIT: per month, without fuel. That's a 2004 vehicle (2003 build) and it is a tremendous machine, but you can see why the arse is dropping out of them now. Not many

£3700 for a P38? Pull the other one. I couldn't see spending more than a grand on any P38 no matter how seemingly nice.https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1151660

Am I the only one who sees "rear VHS" and all bets are off, I have to have that car.......https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1151660
Similar levels of want would apply to a 7 series with the fax machine option, which shows the level of the disease, it would even make me buy a BMW......

One flew past me on the motorway, looked like a spaceship, magnificent & high level of want.
Alfa light has been off for the last few weeks after adjusting the seat, some fool in a Fiat 500 slammed on for no reason last night (too turn but obviously no indicator) and now it has returned, furious as MOT in 2 weeks!

Lexus hosted a car sales thing at my place of work and I had a little play with one, but not a drive. I loved it. New prices, even tax-free and with diplomatic discount, are still beyond what I can stomach but it's a fantastic thing. I'm not suggesting they can defy automotive value rules of the universe but I don't think they'll fall into our cheapskate clutches. The best we can hope for is a McLaren-esque extraordinary vfm in a relative sense rather than an outright one. More's the pity.
All this Lexing has got me mildly intrigued by the hefty old things. Of course, I most definitely don't need another unnecessary big-engined old Hector. And then a colleague shows up in a hitherto-unspoken-of LS400 that they're planning to sell soon. Of course, I most definitely don't need another unnecessary big-engined old Hector.
Two questions for the fancy-Toyota beards, if you please:
- What value an LS400 with 250+k miles on the clock, with reasonable MOT history and in decent-at-first-glance shape?
- What are the tell-tales for the DHP? I think it's got the right wheels...
I've asked said colleague to flag before she sells so, if I don't make a play for it, I'd gladly pass on details of any threadists.
Of course, I most definitely don't need another unnecessary big-engined old Hector. But when did that start to matter?

Condition is key of course, but the mileage will put many off, regardless of whether the car can handle it or not (it can). It could be a bargain at £1500 if the jobs have been done, or a wasteful money pit at £750 if not. One thing is for sure, if any car can take that kind of mileage, an LS400 can.- What value an LS400 with 250+k miles on the clock, with reasonable MOT history and in decent-at-first-glance shape?

DHP included 17” OZ rimz, ride height an inch lower at the front on firmer springs, and thicker ARB’s. I think the grille was also body coloured on DHP equipped Mk4’s. The same alloys were also offered as an accessory on Mk3’s, and many are retrofitted onto non DHP cars. It’s not always easy to tell if genuine.
Edit- looks like Cornershop beat me to it.

My LS430 with just under 230k miles is currently on eBay for what I think its worth with all the right mechanical bits done (well perhaps a little on the high side expecting some haggling). It’s amazing how many there are out there with that kind of mileage still going strong and how many (like mine) have a full Lexus history...Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
