Quite.

I was quite surprised by the offer, but I'd feel some obligation to keep for at least a while, as the giver is a semi-former colleague.
Buy it, sell it to me for £2, you have doubled your money! Win Win! smile

I'm sure you'll be able to sell it easily. I'd certainly be interested.

I would be utterly amazed if that LS400 didn't find its way on this thread imminently. It'd be a VERY poor show from someone turning it down for £1!!

I know this thread is a bit of a love in and it's poor form to chastise people. But how the flipping heck can you um and ahh about a LS400 for a quid?!?!?! Buy it, tax it, insure it, drive it to the breakers and weigh it in if it lets you down, or spend a few quid sorting it out. Bonkers mentality.

Is he really going to make you had over a pound?

having said that, a pal and I did once win a VW Beetle in the early days of Ebay for £3, and he made us pay before we loaded it onto a trailer. About a month later we spent 25 quid having it taken away by a scrap dealer.

Not sure why this has some appeal, but not many people would expect a 3.3 V6 to be under the bonnet!

In my 30 years of being on this planet, not once have I ever seen someone take a photo every 2 steps around a car and use them to sell the car.

It's like watching a YouTube video in the 80s. So fking bizarre.

Buy it for a quid, flog the extra set of DHP wheels and give them the profits, as an upstanding chap.

Then smoke around in it for a few months and sell it on to a threadist at your leisure.

Echo the above.

Additional wheels and tyres are worth £300 with a following wind. Should pay for the service, track rod ends and some touch up.

Forget the cam belt, run it till it snaps (it won’t) then sell the second set of wheels for £300. And the front near side indicator (to me) for forty quid. wavey

Edit: I see Krikkit is of a far more charitable nature than me!

Spec sheet says a top speed of 143mph. I’m sure it cruises fine at normal motorway speeds.

Re the Ls400, as mentioned, the DHP alloys are worth an easy £300 in good condition, plus the genuine DHP centre caps are NLA from Lexus. Could be worth £100 to someone on their own.

Likely a faulty compressor - I believe there is a £25 (“BagPipingAndy”) seal kit option that could fix it, or £400 for a new compressor as stated

Exactly that kit from precisely that chap did a sterling job of fixing the compressor on my X350.

Ditto. Left front wheel off, remove plastic liner. Remove horns, remove pump. Remove head from pump..if bolts snap (one of mine did), drill out, re-tap with supplied tap. Replace piston ring (30 seconds). Reverse procedure.

I once sold an enormous old printing press (30 tons, 25 feet long) and the buyer did exactly that before it was dismantled and shipped to rural Pakistan. He explained it would be the "instruction manual" for the people putting it back together. yikeshehe
