First post on this thread - I've been catching up for weeks!

My current not quite sure if it is a barge Mondeo 2.5T is performing admirable service, despite needing some love, but this thread has shown me that I NEED a Lexus LS430 or 460 in my life.

However, I can't justify another car, but I shall continue to dream smile
This thread thrives on dreamers, welcome to the club.
A 2.5T barge size motor qualifies in my book.

Welcome.

Add my LS460 from exactly two weeks ago Tobinen if you're keeping score again.
Found it and congratulations, cheers. Always good to hear of an intra-thread deal. Journal updated.

Also found: charltjr and em177's purchases. Good stuff.

Now I am taking the CL for its pump to the garage.

Mine's back, new front tyres (at no cost to me) and the drone has gone. Knocking still present, waiting for part to come in. The TPMS light has come on though and I can't turn it off, so they'll need to sort that when it goes back irked

Tobinen - any idea how much your CL will cost to fix, dare I ask? Hopefully it won't be much and you can get back to enjoying it soon smokin
Just drive it for a few cycles and it will turn itself off. I had my spare refurbed last week so drove around with the warning lights on (because it couldn’t “see” the spare), popped the wheel back in and the lights were still on.....2 days later they had gone off and all back to normal now. I guess the software must be set to remain on unless no fault seen for X cycles.

Jim
OK thanks for the heads up. I was able to find and try the reset button this morning, after pressing it for a few seconds it said it was doing a reset procedure on the dash, the TPMS light was flashing for about a minute or so and then it just stayed on saying fault with the TPMS. So looks like it'll either reset itself in a few days or the garage will need to sort it out when it goes back for the steering component smile No biggy, I just don't like warning lights on the dash hehe

Volvo always has a nice little display at baggage claim at Landvetter Airport, thought that this would appeal to some..

Am I wrong to like this Lex in bronze? A bit steep price wise but worth a cheeky offer?

Better than Greenville-Spartanburg, they had an X6 on display for years. Kinda ruined your evening having to stare at that monstrosity while waiting for bags. (Not too surprising given the plant making them is local). I quickly figured out that it was much better to drive up from Atlanta than to go through GSP. That, and clearing customs was always an adventure - I got asked if I knew anyone in the IRA once - the logic apparently being that my passport said Ireland on it...

I mainly wish the Schiphol privium scheme would get rolled out everywhere, makes air commuting almost civilised. That will never be the case while MAG exist. smile

Anyway - barge news. Went into the dealer today as the bonnet release cable has gone loose on the 7. There are 3 parts to the cable (why, for gods sake?). £58 to you sir. I also need a bonnet badge as that’s come off - £30.

As we know, SL2 is now in CY, so I also rang the man about SL1 and it’s non-working roll-bar/hardtop doesn’t want to release/softtop doesn’t want to do the last part of the cycle dropping the rear screen down onto the deck. He thinks it’s the roof control module, and of course, these are NLA from MB direct. I know I can ebay one, etc, but does anyone know of a known ‘good’ one knocking about please?

Body work is excellent, previously enjoyed by 2 careful owners and I’d be proud to turn up with at my mothers.

And the cars not bad either.

(Sorry.)

I know - I found it amusing that this was clearly more important than the cambelt etc!

At least it doesn't have gold wheels. I'm still getting over the gold wheels from my first LS400.....

Driving to work and I experienced total power steering failure!

The battery light came up and all windows missed up too.

It’s a CLS 320.

The AA guy diagnosed a belt and possible pulley failure. Sharp intake of breath and off it went on the back of a truck. It ain’t gonna be cheap.

Hopefully just a belt. Don't know about the CLS, but my previous car had an aux belt that just did the power steering pump and the alternator.

Good luck!

Thanks. I hope it’s something simple. Managed to limp into the car park and call recovery.

If it’s not tooooo pricey I’ll get a gearbox oil change at the same time.

Quick google search suggests that a lot of mercs have a "serpentine" belt...

So if this belt goes you loose power steering, aircon, alternator and water pump.
Hopefully you didn't run the engine too long to avoid over heating

Interesting and thanks

I drove less than a mile I’d say and that wasn’t easy!
