Wait a minute, RicksAlfas only posted this yesterday with a suggestion of a 'threadistes' discount!

Nope. It wasn't me!!

(I'm just off to change all the door locks though, you can never take these cases of mistaken identity too seriously).

I tried, and got in the queue but the first person to view paid the full asking price and it went on Friday afternoon. Was sorry to hear of the vendor's son. In other news, have steered him towards this thread and expect him to be a new lurker / eventual poster...
It did look cheap. Which is an incredible statement for a well worn 20 year old truck with puddles in the footwells, a huge V8 that does 13mpg, a probable forthcoming ban from all major cities, and will make you look like a fairgroundsman.

But I really fancied it and, in all honesty, would have considered punting my LS460 on to buy it. Which probably tells you all you need to know.

It's the Mercedes C216 that Betts88 tried to buy and has been sold, not the Land Cruiser posted by Don of Croy.

I like the Land Cruiser. Seems good value to me.

In other news the C216 posted earlier has sold. Anyone from here?

Ooooops biggrin

How ironic that you posted a response to me, whilst I was composing this serious case of mis-identification.

Yep, apologies all for the confusion, I must be careful what I quote in future! As gareth_r has rightly picked up on, I was talking about the C216.

I have an indecent amount of love for this - where are the sixth and seventh seats? Removed to show boot space?
They can fold up and to the sides, or can be removed:

Check for rust! Land Cruisers are very tough mechanically, but can corrode.
dad had one for donkeys years from new - the only thing he had wrong with it was the injectors (or something) would have been costly but toyota did it as a good will gesture as he had had it serviced by them since new and extended warranties for years.... i think it had hit 150,000 miles or something when it happened. other than that - he had nothing go wrong and it looked the same as when it came out the showroom.....

edit: and yes i should have bought it off him for tuppance when he part-exed it for a new rav4.

SJC drops the fricking Mike there!

Although I can't help but feel it's 1.8l shy of what should be under the bonnet, especially with the single tail pipe, and I fully expect it to be priced at £90k like the Brabus on a white background very soon.

If this ever sells at anywhere near the comedic asking price it will be a miracle. To Joe Snot in the street it looks like an old Beirut taxi with fancy wheels. You can buy a lot of class with 90 grand.

It's tempting to email and ask if it is a typo, and he means £9000 instead of £90000

The additional '0' is justified by the 'historical significance' of the vehicle...

That's why I'm sure it's £9000 and not £900 wink

Over budget / not really a barge - but I can't think of anywhere else to post this where the advert language will be appreciated, so posting it in here.

Must be a joke. Worried that it isn't.

I've seen this shared a month or so ago on the MB Club forum. It's cringeworthy in 2020.

That's an... Interesting looking vehicle. The bumpers and things don't hide the quite hideous car it's based on though. The facelift was an immeasurable improvement on these!

I am the owner of the land cruiser posted yesterday...

It is an excellent car but being old and having lived a pretty hard life, it is starting to need some more TLC than I have time and funds for.

If I weren't emigrating I would have fixed all the issues this summer but it looks like I'll be saving all I can until I get my visa approval.

I probably should submit myself to the council thread for my lack of presentation skills. I know it needs a good wash and clean inside and will upload new photos once done.

Would be happy to see it going to a threadist so PM if you want me info.
