That sort of deep cleaning and restoration is an easy and very satisfying fix. I've even managed it myself with very pleasing results, and I am to home mechanics what Myra Hindley was to baby-sitting.
I have been meaning to ask what products the thread regulars would recommend for maintaining the leather in my W124? Cream leather is in good nick and I am keen to keep it that way.

Gliptone seems to be well recommended, easy and cheap enough to use (I'm terrible at cleaning cars and even I can manage)

In barge-related spotting, this XJR6 looks like a savvy buy (price depending of course!)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174200395825

Recent respray for lacquer peel, no rust claimed and new headliner.

What brought that up was clicking on this hideous slice of X350, who would've thought white SE-spec could look so dull.

Gliptone liquid leather cleaner and cream are what I use. Good stuff.

Is it me, or is the red XJR sitting a little low on the OSR?

The first W140 went in was a (then new) S600 in that colour on a K-plate. It did not have a matching green interior but I can't for the life of me remember what colour the interior was.
If it's the one I'm thinking of—and how many crystal green metallic S600s were produced?—it had cream-beige velours. It turns up in the Merc Club from time to time.

You could have a matching pair:

That would make some sense, certainly the owners previous 560 SEL had velour rather than leather.

My memory is clouded because I knew two owners who had twin cars but possibly with different interiors.

Small wheels, toothy grill, white paint. Not a good combo on an X350.

"Very rare in white" - yep, with good reason! hurl

The Merc Club 600SEL has less than 20k miles and is spectacular, but you'd not want to own it.

The W140 S320 with a caramel leather interior that got us excited last year found its way into a collection that is now being auctioned. Still would.

Years ago, I had a cunning plan to help finance a running a V8 Jagwar by using it as a wedding car at weekends. Fortunately I saw sense.

The exterior photographs look very shabby indeed with a grubby smattering of rain; conversely and perversely, the interior looks warm and inviting, like a refuge in a storm.

Lovely but I can't un-see that faded red rear plinth - couldn't tell you what the rest of the car is like.

That must be rare with a passenger airbag and dual climate on a 6 cylinder car...

Nah, not for me mate. Needs a leaper, a transmission tunnel holster and some additional chrome trim.
Extras like that will push the price up a bit, call it 95k pal
Only fair ... that sort of genuine style doesn't come cheap.
Drove past a Gerald on the M1 today.
S type cruising in the middle lane at 70mph, regardless of the empty inside lane.
Then there was a chrome fish and R badge on the back end, a hat on the parcel shelf, leapers on the wings, just in front of the front doors and obviously full leaper on the bonnet.
The very black and tight looking driving gloves looked a little out of place though, so I'm not sure where Mrs Gerald was.....
probably in the boot. in several pieces..

I love these. - everytime an E34 is posted a little part of me dies - to think I sold my last E34 525i SE for £450 and it was still solid and running and lower mileage than this one. The gearbox was occasionally making a thump when slowing down for tight corners, but I bet it wouldn't have been that expensive to sort. The metric tyres were expensive to replace though and it had a sunroof instead of aircon. Trying to remember what I replaced this with - might have been another Mk1 Audi TT - another model I love.
