Missed the Espace talk, but for some reason I am trying to find a Mk2 V6. Can't find any at all but hate diesel and the 2.0 would be, erm, slow.

The best way to describe that BMW ad is concise, for that money why not you could dump it anywhere and not worry

This is a petulant and absurd point of view. Youre own lack of desire to have full control of your car's transmission is not something you should need to project onto the many who do appreciate that facility.

Granted the cars we know and love are more suited to slushers, but I enjoyed my various manual barges, and at least a clutch pedal and stick means you can heel 'n toe your way into the roundabout on the bypass pretending to be Allan Grice. Or at least I do.

The recent blue vintage Mercedes posted was perfectly timed for this W110 to appear on a later episode of The Crown:

The same cars, in a later scene:

Filled the E240 up on the way home today, 108.9ppl, it's like we are being mentally tortured into V12's.

R129sl did you manage the exhaust?
I found a man. It's going to him tomorrow am. I shall report. The only part I don't have for him is the gasket between down pipes and centre pipe. Hopefully he'll have one or be able to reuse the old one. The existing exhaust is completely fubar. I must nip out and put some penetrating fluid on the nuts.

Did all Mercs come with these Stargard things? I've bought one and leased one (I know, I know) in the last 7 or 8 years and I've found one empty bag in my garage and one with these things... It's really bugging me as I can't ever remember having them. The black shiny stuff works, though, my RRS tyres are gleaming now biggrin

The StarGuard polish is a nightmare to buff off.

Unleaded is 99.9p at Cost Co in Gateshead, I am told. By my clerk, of course.

Shame we're not allowed to go anywhere, though I have done 100 miles in the SL today.

That Rolls-Royce Phantom V with a James Young body (looks to be a PV22?) is a thing of beauty. They are the swansong of Coachbuilt cars, but a real high point nonetheless.

Non-furloughed, non-coronavirused individual seeking potentially ruinous barge for short or long term relationship. Petrol and V8 preferred. Must have five seats, seven would be handy. Social Distancing restrict willingness to travel. Rusty Mercedes need not apply.
Can one of the four passengers sit in the boot? Because this is nice.

As with most, I like the Beemer but not the gearbox.
Think that Soarer is nice too, a perfect stepping stone for CDG/CV...from LS to Soarer to SC...

You have presumably heard of J gates (from 1986), paddles (In 1901, Amédée Bollée developed a method of shifting gears which did not require the use of a clutch and was activated by a ring mounted within the steering wheel), etc?

I paid £1.10 / lt for 99 octane today; almost wishing that the warning light was on so that I could buy 80 ltrs instead of the 33 that I managed to squeeze in. smile

Now now, chaps... Petty squabbling isn't thread behaviour. Well, not unless we're arguing over whether the best road to ruin is to own a French V6, or a German V12.

Let's just accept that some like the "feel" of a manual, and others revel in the convenience of letting the machinery take the strain.
