Not jealousy just previous encounters with three blokes all with Ferraris at a track day a few years ago. They said things about my mates 205 GTi that were obnoxious at best refering to costs involved etc and when one told me I wouldn't understand anything about "high performance"cars I just came to the rational conclusion that they were knobheads, got into my M5 and drove home.

One day the money will run out and all these businesses which have been dependent on subsidies will go bust, along with JLR, and the politicians will just shrug and walk away, or start a war to distract our attention.

Anyway, I do not think it is the end, or even the beginning of the end. ICE cars do something nothing else currently can. These big Lamborghinis will never produce significant amounts of pollution. They won't be used enough. I might just conceivably be able to put together the price of an Aventador SVJ - one of these, maybe not, but that is close enough to admire it, and recognise it for the glorious piece of art that it is.
