always gives me a laugh. He's been through a few company names in his time. Would I ever buy a car off him? Hell no.
That's Sniff Petrol writing the blurb on those cars surely?

Just seen this on a Cayenne ad:

I'll never understand why some think because a certain person owned a car or sat in it it's worth more.
Both Beckham and Kylie have likely farted in it, so what. What makes it more desirable exactly??

That 240 looks nice and based on the blurb, it sounds like it's 'as new' and so as you take in the rather optimistic price tag, compose yourself then carry on to read that immortal line "Not currently MOT'd" you can't but help wonder. Just needs the essential "But will fly through another" to seal the deal. Ahm oot.

Mg owner sticks £10 of diesel in and ‘range on dash goes up to 177 miles. What’s the problem? hehe
Problem being the ZR doesn't have a range counter - so that'd be an impressive feat! biggrin
I did wonder if it did or not.
What I didn’t wonder was whether or not someone on here would tell me if it hadn’t hehe
Well bearded.

'FSH until 50k, serviced myself/by a local specialist since' - On a 170k .
I've had a few cars like that, had them from new and whilst under warranty have been at the stealerships (good will, courtesy cars etc) but once out of warranty they get played with and the local specialist looks after them. I also do oil changes at half intervals which are my own services.

So you get 4 or 5 main dealer stamps, then you get specialist receipt, my oil receipt, specialist receipt, my receipt etc etc.

I'd have thought that shows way more care than some random full dealer history that may or may not replace the oil on a service, all done by a 16 year old trainee technician.
I agree, I'd much prefer actual invoices and receipts than stamps in the service book. I was meaning more the type that have a history until 50k, then absolutely nothing after other than the word of the less than honest seller.

Stating the asking price is a good starting point.

Well, given the other issues I would suggest £100 is a good starting point.

What is the country coming to with such poor language and grammar?
You beat me to it but you missed the best one, Roo - on the first line - 'suttle' !

Many years ago I was looking for a particular model of a late 1950’s car and was offered the exact thing, with the added bonus (?) that it once belonged to Elizabeth Taylor AND Richard Burton. After some light investigation turned out to have been registered to a board member of Burtons the tailors.rofl

Very good condition I personally think is the most over used phrase in car ads. Mainly because people don't seem to have a clue what good condition actually is.

'A few age related marks' or 'Good condition for age' sets a few expectations meaning you buy a 10+ year old car you know what you'll get. I've been to see cars marked as being in very good condition yet scuffed corners and pieces of trim hanging off.

Fully loaded, all the extras ticked - Me: but its got no sunroof so how does it have all the extras ticked.

AMG replica - Me: why it does not have an amg bonnet, amg clocks, seats ect ect.

I do reply asking why they think this but they just play dumb.

Not really

To say maintained regardless of cost means that they put the best things on it, even if it's not necessarily "value" IE using genuine parts instead of random motor factor ones.

Also perhaps means that the owner has done some preventative maintenance.
For example , I have literally this morning picked up an upper coolant hose for my car from BMW. They are plastic and over time, the ends are susceptible to cracking meaning you get a massive water leak.
It was £28. I bought a replacement and will fit it over the next couple of days. Not because my current one is faulty but just because it's a known issue that I'm trying to prevent.

I don't think that a main dealer service history is all that. In Fact I hate main dealer service history. Rather see a nice thick stack of invoices from an enthusiast who does it himself.
Cars are not rocket science.

One of the best I have seen personally was a guy who I knew through the Scirocco owners page.
He was an OK guy, cheated on his Mrs so we stopped hanging out with him. (That's another story! biggrin )

Anyway, his car had something like 130k on it. Fair enough
Advert was fine, aside from one line .......I'm paraphrasing as I can't remember exactly now.
But it was something like "it's higher mileage which means it's going to be more reliable than a lower mileage car"

WHAT laugh

Emobalisor! That is a solid effort.
smile I only realised what that was meant to be when I actually read the ad, was racking my brain for a good few minutes! 'Suttle' is another good one. If it's a straight swap he wants then I could do a straight swap for a dictionary (and before anyone starts yes I'm sure he's got dyslexia and is actually a theoretical physicist).
truth be told I don't by the whole dyslexic thing either - you really don't have much eggscuuse not to use the (numerous) spell-checkers (grammar is, IMO, more forgivable).

Very nice V12 DB7 Vantage for sale on CarAndClassic, ad is well written except..

The Ad said:
The car was delivered new on 6th July 2000 to a Mr P Reading, of Walton-on-Thames, to a house now worth just over £2.5 million pounds.
Possibly a Daily Mail journalist?

Seen a few where I'm not sure if the owner was just misinformed or being naughty on purpose.

I saw my old Impreza up for sale on a dealers website a couple of years after I sold it and he was advertising it as the wrong model. I emailed him to inform him but got no response and it stayed advertised wrong.

Another one was when I was looking for a Legacy Spec B, found 2 different adds on Gumtree with sellers claiming their normal Legacy was a Spec B.

Most recently was a local guy selling an Impreza on Facebook and he advertised it as a Type R (jap market only, 2 door model) the car for sale was 4 door, clearly not an STI let alone Type R. His ad rampled on about all the stuff it had which didn't even add up, eg it had a Prodrive Pack (UK thing) which would give about 250bhp but was saying the car was about 350bhp.
It did have a Type R sticker on the back though hehe

How is the name, location of the first owner and his house value even relevant to the car, its condition and value?

I thought this was a joke, but it's genuinely there in the ad, that's the final straw, I'm gonna do something, not sure what yet, but it will probably involve a drink.
