I have an odd affliction where I only really feel quick acceleration if I'm in the passenger seat, if I'm driving then within a few minutes get desensitised to any amount of power.

Sounds odd but I get that strange feeling in my stomach when someone floors it even if it's not that powerful a car, my friend has a Vectra VXR and it feels quicker 30-50mph when I'm in the passenger seat of that than when I'm driving my WRX that has well over 100bhp more.

As a passenger S2000 turbo engined MK Indy 350-400bhp, the way this thing shot off from a standing start was just obscene, closest thing speed wise to a bike I've ever been in.

As a driver MTM tuned c5 rs6 avant with 600+ bhp, a very practical missile to make the dog sick with.

Weirdest car I've driven is a first generation cayenne turbo a car of that size has no right to be as fast as they are if anything the sheer size of the car makes you even more aware of it's speed , like strapping a saturn 5 to a portacabin.

A hill climb prepared Westfield.

I got to invited to a passenger seat trip up the local course in it, unbeknownst to me, the driver is the course record holder...

Jesus. I’ve never felt anything like how this launched and tore up the course.

That rare moment of a very powerful lightweight car, plenty of grip and a driver that knows the car, course and the limits very well.

My FIL has a 2018 cayenne s

I don’t know why but it feels like a bullet. Odd for something so large to move so fast.

Anyone who hasn't travelled in a modded Mini at 100+mph hasn't experienced the true terror that speed can produce.

You can feel every single one of those mph in your bowels
Totally agree... saw 90 once on the speedo of my modified Mini City E. The wing mirrors were folding themselves in, the steering was going light and the induction noise from the ram pipes was crazy!

As the OP asked what the fastest `feeling' car you've been in, rather than what is the fastest car you've been in, the answers here are indeed interesting`.
It seem that various 7 type cars are able to give the occupants the `feeling' that it is going fast even when technically they are not the fastest that many will have been in.
That perhaps is one of the key attractions of a 7 type car for true petrolheads, because one can get the `feeling' of going fast, sometimes without even going over posted limits, because there is little between the occupants and the elements to dull the sensations
Modern cars are so good at insulating its occupants from the sensations of speed, one needs to be accelerating, or travelling at enormous rates before the car in question even begins to feel like it is going fast.
Just like they say that any true petrolhead should try an Alfa before they pop their clogs, in the same way they should also try a 7 type car at least once.,

5.0 TVR Griffith. Not the fastest car I've been in, but it certainly felt and sounded the most brutal.

The fastest feeling car's ive actually driven have been the raw ones and not the fastest, stuff like MR2s, Mk2 Golf GTIs, in so much as they give the sensation they are travelling quickly even though the numbers on the speedo were not really enough to raise an eyebrow, but certainly the sensations quick enough that the Mrs used to give me grief. Yet, flat out in much faster cars and she wasn't that bothered.

If you want really raw, I would give a 7 a go, if you haven't already done so.
No doors, no sound proofing, no power steering, no abs, usually no roof, and sometimes not even a windscreen.

I loved the drive I had in a 7, I didn't get the chance to really open it up but even going steady was a great experience. Such an event to drive.

They are a proper head turner as well and everyone looks at you in it. Noisy as well with the exhaust right next to your ear!

Its still on my to do list.

I've been in an Elise but weirdly that didn't seem to feel all that fast. Handling was clearly something else though.

My old Street Triple R was pretty quick. They’re 106bhp and weigh 182kg wet. Impressive in isolation, but nothing compared to a modern sports bike with an output of double that.

I recently did a track day at Oulton Park and had the chance to drive an R35 GTR. It was obviously quick, however I felt so isolated from the speed compared to the bike that it didn’t even give half the thrill. I’ve fancied a GTR for years as well.

Oh well, I’ll have to get another big bike at some point!

My tiger kit car. Only a 2.1 pinto but it used to fly. The biggest thing was the aero screen, so no regular windscreen which must of added on at least another 200hp!

Being a passenger going across the Filton Roundabout in a Ford Anglia with a Ford Consul 1500 engine . The problem was we were on its roof , upside down . My stupid mate tried to race a Elan onto the roundabout. It seemed pretty fast to me as we waited to hit something while on its roof, it was the crash barrier which spun us around & a round about 4 times. The daftest thing of all was when we did actually come to a stop & all but the rear window were knocked out . Instead of trying to leap out as fast as possible,my Friend Cecil( god bless him) stood there looking down at the roof lining, which was now the floor & i said "What are you looking for ?" he calmy answered "I've dropped a 10 Bob "note ( some will remember most here wont)....What ?? There were people evrywhere trying to pull us out incase it caught fire & he's looking for his money Oh dear all fun when you're 17yrs old ..anyway that felt pretty fast to me skipping across the roundabout on the roof!

Caterham again. I’ve a few goes in them - terrific fun - but when Bill (out of Pistonheads) took me for a ride in his I had a bit of a panic attack and had to ask him to stop.
