Honestly, things that are "obvious" about aerodynamics really get screwed up in the transonic region. It's not particularly obvious stuff, due to being so far outside of regular human experience.

2 people and 3 vehicles have travelled faster than Andy Green in the Bloodhound... Andy of course driving the 3rd of those vehicles and holding the current record.

The people with the expertise to start going "oh, that's obvious" about this project could probably fit in a phone booth.

That said, I am curious to know how abrasive the dust thrown up by the front wheels is - for all I know it might not get a chance to hit the car at all.
