My 8 year old virtually explodes every time he sees any Lambo anywhere, And I'm pretty sure he isn't the only one.
Exactly.

Took my nephew to his birthday party in my Aventador and his classmates nearly wet themselves.

I would have thought the much smaller, lighter F1 is perhaps closer to the optimal answer of squeezing a truly majestic V12 engine into a car that's still compact enough to perhaps enjoy on British country roads.
the f1isn't really a 'woking' car.
and costs £15m+

Yep, most kids still love super cars.

They were all over it. Taking pictures, sitting in it, asking me to rev it etc.

Except one of them who was scared by the noise... hehegetmecoat

A proper supercar. I’d have this over anything from Woking.
What if it was being sold by someone in Woking?

It's so completely ridiculous, OTT, huge and unnecessary...I love it! It's what these cars should be.

As much as I appreciate these, even if I could afford one I'd still take the smaller more nimble performante.

I've had my SVJ coupe about 7 months now. It is easily the best iteration of the Aventadors in every way bar one. The big problem with it is not the width which is more or less the same as the earlier cars, but the fact that you can see almost nothing behind you due to the narrow slats in the engine cover and the struts used to support the wing. Makes doing anything more than 70mph on NSL roads (not that I ever would obviously) a complete lottery in terms of spotting the police or indeed anyone behind you.

That apart it is phenomenal. The ability to configure the settings to your liking as in the S is the most significant improvement along with the four wheel steering, and the ALA makes an appreciable difference too. It is still extremely wide and requires advance planning before taking it anywhere unfamiliar but I've never had a problem parking it on the street as it generally attracts only positive reactions along with shock and awe, especially painted bright green!

It is of course objectively not the best car in the world but it's the most fun one I've ever owned. And it is also brutally fast and far more capable than I imagined. Never been a fan of convertible supercars for various reasons but I have no doubt that this one will be at least as epic as the tin-top.

Could you/have you rigged up a rear facing camera to the infotainment system?

Apparently (so I’ve been informed) the manufacturer isn’t able to rig the reversing camera so that it works in drive, as an option in the UK but aftermarket solutions are possible via your mobile phone suctioned to the mirror. Not ideal.

It certainly sounds like the type of thing that a clever bod somewhere should have found a solution to. Have you any idea if it would merely require a software tweak or is there a physical electrical connection made when in reverse which facilitates the use of the camera? Either way I'm sure somebody could manage it, lots of industrious folks out there

Was there ever the option to spec a glass engine cover thus improving visibility?

Couldn't have said it better myself, rear visibility is laughable and does make it very difficult to exceed speed limits.

However, the car is epic in almost every other way. A 720S is a much better car, but you're having way more fun in this. Absolutely love the car, very nearly sold it last week but I've come back to my senses!

Nope. The engine cover on the SVJ isn't hinged. You need a separate key to release locks on either side of it and then remove the whole thing in one piece. It's tricky to do by yourself as it's fairly large (but relatively light). Making it glass would I imagine make it very difficult indeed to remove as a one man job, which in turn would make things like topping up the oil impossible without help. So in summary, apart from the width, the total lack of rear visibility, the fact it's about 6 inches off the ground and requires the nose lift activated to get over speed bumps and out of carparks etc, the ancient gearbox, the total lack of storage and tiny boot, and the nearly horizontal windscreen that makes it impossible to see traffic lights change if you're first in the queue it is not the thinking man's supercar...but luckily nobody has ever accused me of thinking!

Will try and post some pics later. There is a (st and upside down) one in my profile.

Sounds like a pain in the ass but I’m sure that’s offset every time you put your foot down. Even sitting in it must be a experience.

I don't have the words to say how much I love this beast. It will be interesting to see how Lamborghini follows this up with a replacement. But the ladies and gents at Sant Agata are on a roll and long may that continue.
