RE: Ferrari Roma unveiled as '2 ' super GT
Discussion
I’m confused about where this car is supposed to sit on the range.
Presumably smaller than the 812, but 2+2 unlike the bigger model.
Therefore a direct competitor to the Maserati Granturismo, which apparently is still being replaced, so two cars targeting exactly the same segment?
And seemingly “just” a Portofino with a fixed roof, so why not call it a Portofino coupe?
And what about the entry level Dino, is that still going ahead, and where will it slot it?

Much as I admire recent Ferraris, they're mostly too track-styled / showy / bling to appeal to me. The only Ferrari I'd ever want to own is a Daytona. And now this one. Such a sharply-styled front. Proper middle-aged Ferrari for people not pretending to be driving gods - this is a design team on top of their game.
And also, isn’t Ferrari NV taking a big risk having so many £150k+ models on the market at a time when many large world economies are edging closer to recession?
It takes years to develop a new car platform/engines, and several more years to recoup R&D spend. Yet a country can move into a recession in just a few quarters...

Finally, a grownup Ferrari. With a decent interior, and smooth skin on the outside. Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh.
Exactly - agree 100%. Mind you, there'll be as many who will think it anonymous and a bit dull; but they're already well-served with the bonkers models. Well-heeled work colleague gets a new car every year - alternates between Jags, Porsches, Ferraris etc. I asked him for his opinion of Ferrari v eg Porsche. He said he loved them all; but he eventually got sick of the Ferrari - not because of the car itself, but because of the unrelenting attention. Every drive was an event; bus drivers opening doors and asking you to "rev it there mate"; people swerving over the road to get a better look; everyone gawking and snapping continually; on the radar of every cop. He said he began to worry about not looking glam enough when getting out of the car ... Sometimes you're just not in the mood for that look-at-me stuff, and in the 911 you had as much fun - and nobody bothered you. Which is what most middle-aged people want in the real world. isaldiri said:

I think you could literally bet the house it will be vastly heavier than '1470kg kerbweight'....Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
