It probably is loosely based on the Portofino underpinnings but at least it will fulfil the role of GT car ... unlike McLarens latest attempt at a GT.

Like the rear 3/4 view best otherwise not stunning but good enough to worry AM. Even the article exudes joy at the possibility that there is something other than chasing bhp, excreting an SUV or adding volts and I am tumescent at such a prospect.

I’m confused about where this car is supposed to sit on the range.

Presumably smaller than the 812, but 2+2 unlike the bigger model.
Therefore a direct competitor to the Maserati Granturismo, which apparently is still being replaced, so two cars targeting exactly the same segment?

And seemingly “just” a Portofino with a fixed roof, so why not call it a Portofino coupe?

And what about the entry level Dino, is that still going ahead, and where will it slot it?

Much as I admire recent Ferraris, they're mostly too track-styled / showy / bling to appeal to me. The only Ferrari I'd ever want to own is a Daytona. And now this one. Such a sharply-styled front. Proper middle-aged Ferrari for people not pretending to be driving gods - this is a design team on top of their game.

And also, isn’t Ferrari NV taking a big risk having so many £150k+ models on the market at a time when many large world economies are edging closer to recession?

It takes years to develop a new car platform/engines, and several more years to recoup R&D spend. Yet a country can move into a recession in just a few quarters...

Finally, a grownup Ferrari. With a decent interior, and smooth skin on the outside. Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh.
Exactly - agree 100%. Mind you, there'll be as many who will think it anonymous and a bit dull; but they're already well-served with the bonkers models. Well-heeled work colleague gets a new car every year - alternates between Jags, Porsches, Ferraris etc. I asked him for his opinion of Ferrari v eg Porsche. He said he loved them all; but he eventually got sick of the Ferrari - not because of the car itself, but because of the unrelenting attention. Every drive was an event; bus drivers opening doors and asking you to "rev it there mate"; people swerving over the road to get a better look; everyone gawking and snapping continually; on the radar of every cop. He said he began to worry about not looking glam enough when getting out of the car ... Sometimes you're just not in the mood for that look-at-me stuff, and in the 911 you had as much fun - and nobody bothered you. Which is what most middle-aged people want in the real world.

If any of my relatives are reading this ... I'd like one of these from Santa please ...

Although they might be getting call from SEAT about a missing consignment of alloy wheels...

Looks like a cross between a Jaguar F-Type and Ferrari 612.

Dare I say, a bit bland?
My thoughts too. It looks a bit homogeneous but I'll reserve judgement until I see one (which will be never).

What a gorgeous looking thing. Awful name though. If they do an estate version will it be the Ferrari Roma Traveller?

I'm not in a position to buy one, but on seeing the photos I thought it looked like a DB11 with McLaren lights. It's easy on the eye, but completely unoriginal.
If McLaren had made it this thread would be nothing but bhing...

You are right, for some reason I thought Maserati went with Ferrari and Alfa stayed with FCA

if that is really Kerb weight, then I am quite excited about it
I think you could literally bet the house it will be vastly heavier than '1470kg kerbweight'....
Unfortunately, I suspect you are correct - if they keep it below 1,550 kerb it would still be quite good though
