Clickbaity thread title is clickbaity.

Actually, what I meant to ask is, who here has something 'tasty' in the garage but has fallen for their daily/shed/tip car?

I recently bought a Megane Coupe, battered, abused and unloved and am really enjoying putting it right with the view that it's going to become the winter/city car shed of choice, saving my main car (not that fancy, but I love it) for 'best'. It's slow, dull and...well, a Renault.

Except I find I'm enjoying taking the shed instead of the main car. There's something hugely liberating about parking it wherever, not being bothered by the floods and going for it anyway and not feeling the urge to clean it after every trip.

So, to return to my rather weak analogy: anyone else shunning the steak for a bit o' filthy kebab?

My wife and I have a Mustang GT, AMG C63 and Fiat Panda 4x4. 9/10 times, we reach for the Panda’s keys; especially when going into town.

Got a BMW E30 325i. Fast road & track car, has been my project car for a decade or more; to the point where it's sorted. Done, finished, it's everything I ever wanted.

Bought a Nissan Leaf in September and the BMW hasn't turned a wheel since.
There's a lot to be said for wafting silently around some country lanes listening to a podcast, rather than deafening myself rocketing around a B road. Maybe I'm getting old but I love Driving just as much is I love Driving Fast.

M2 comp sits in the garage while I'm out wringing my Mini Cooper S's neck more often than not.

I ended up selling the steak.

I acquired a diesel Rover 75 for the motorway slog/commute, running errands, parking in town and so on. However it quickly grew on me, being a comfy barge and ultimately after a year or so with the 75, sold the other car that just wasn't getting used. However it was replaced by something vintage, although I now toy with the idea of a "spare" 75 for when this one is in maintenance.....

Yeah, I leave the 250 GTO in the garage.

Daily is the McLaren F1. Can park it anywhere, does decent mpg and much better steer than the old banger Fezza.

I have a mk7 golf gti pp and more often than not I’m either in a focus diesel estate or a Citroen Picasso or my van

I think since March I’ve done around 400 miles in it!

Too many other things going on in my life right now, going to sell it

Only downside to the obvious upsides of a shed is that you will spend 99% of your time driving the shed.

You will get attached to the shed and you will spend too much money on the shed.

And you will be known as the bloke who drives the shed. hehe

I had a period of this a few years ago but I realised that I was wasting my life - we aren't here for long!

I know a guy who runs a 75 connoisseur. Loves it. So much so he bought another one, only he knew he couldn’t afford to tax/ insure both so he bought one in the same spec and colour and may or may not be known to swap plates over when one was in need of maintenance and stuck in his garage awaiting time and/ or parts

My sheddy Impreza WRX has been on the drive longer than my daily and my posh toy put together, and outside of the daily commute, gets more use than both most of the time. I think it's the best of both worlds - a little rough bodywork-wise so I don't care about supermarket dings, but is quick and nimble enough to have some fun on the roads without breaking the speed limits.

Perhaps not steak level but had a chicken fillet of a pretty new Polo and didn't want to risk it on the nurburgring so I bought a £500 Primera GT. The plan was to sell it when I got back home, except I didn't. I kept it till I binned it and gave the Polo to the wife.

I changed jobs and gave back my company car a couple of weeks ago, bought a Mk1 TT as a winter commuter car.

I've used it once, it's stupidly loud, bumpy and thirsty!
Instead I've been using my high mileage Renault Trafic that I previously used for carting about mountain bikes and going to the tip, it's great 😂

Ha had one when i was 19 at uni in the late 00s. Thought i was the man while my pals either didnt drive or was in the <1.3l boat.

Totally terrible car in EVERY WAY looking back but i didnt know it then , until about 6 months after replacing the engine due to a cambelt shear (broke student) All the injectors decided to fail , so the car would switch itself off once the coolant got to 90* Lol.

R8 Plus was in the garage but found myself always driving my 82 Merc 280 estate.

Was only doing about 50 miles a month in the R8 so sold it.
