Always been a courier and well back in the day in my early 20s I was unloading in Barnstaple town centre a car came up behind me waving his fists and blowing his horn telling me to get out of the way

Something snapped I completely lost it and ran at him waving a ratchet strap

This fruit cake then started shouting Armed police ,Armed police I stopped assuming he was a policeman I was worried and awaiting arrest

He then turns the car around and drives off
At 53 now I don't want any hassle!

I've got out of my car several times. The last time was about six months ago, guy pulled out in front causing sharp braking and when I beeped he gave me the vees. This was right outside my house and I couldn't have lived with myself if I'd meekly let him walk all over me. Overtook him and blocked the road in front, ran to his car and pulled the driver's door open. We had a chat. Not my proudest moment, but nothing compared to the time I had a go at a pensioner ("stupid old bd") in Sainsbury's because he ignored me when I asked him politely not to stick his arm in my face reaching for an item on the shelf four inches from my nose. "Do you mind?" "No I don't."

Ha, that's a novel take on "I'm an off-duty policeman"... 90% of the time they are not an off-duty policeman but rather stting themselves and thinking that it's some sort of shield spell.

I haven't but I had some loonie get out of his van and try to wrench my door open a while back.

He'd done a sliproad-L2 swoop and would have side swiped me (in L2) had I not braked hard. I didn't gesticulate, flash or toot. When we'd cleared the traffic he stayed in L2 of L2, and slowed to 60mph with clear road ahead. So I flashed him, and he immediately brake-tested me. Knowing I was leaving in a couple of junctions I should have just slowed to 50 and let him get on with being a nutter elsewhere, but instead I undertook him and he tried to side swipe me, which put me onto the hard shoulder. He followed me down to my exit, which of course had stationary traffic at the end. I stopped, he stopped behind. I then had what looked like a long haired version of Nik Blackhurst (of Project Binky fame) try to wrench open my door, then stood next to my door ranting and raving about me flashing him and offering me a fight, occasionally wrenching at my door. Lights went green, I drove on. Next red light, same again. Very odd situation. Just as I was starting to think "he might get out with a weapon next time... Do I try to smack him with the car if he does?" he got bored/had a coronary and did a U-turn.

I'm not a fighty sort but by my estimation I had an advantage of a foot in height, 6 stone in weight and 20 years in age... Although he looked like he'd probably had more stella-infused punch-ups in the car park of the Dog and Hammer than I've had hot dinners.

The mad thing is that this driver was initially in a hurry to get somewhere, yet then had all the time in the world to follow you and try to pull open your door. I suppose that's the case in a lot of road rage incidents though; someone feels wronged regardless of whether they were, or maybe just the cause due to their impatience/pushy driving.

I've only got out once and it was many years ago and also rather stupid of me as I'm not very big or tall. Turned out the other driver wasn't either luckily for me and we just shouted at each other through his window, then he drove off. I felt he was in the wrong, but I'm sure the opposite applied. I've never done it since.

I did this afternoon.

Was in the local under the shop car park and it was rammed, I drove around the circuit 3 times and saw a family go to a car so pulled up and indicated, there is no room for anyone to pass so I was conscious about holding up a car and tatty white van behind me. I did consider going around again but thought that I needed to park as the Mrs had gone ahead.

Anyway, I waited for them and reversed into the space, it was a bit tight so took 3 attempts to get in due to a car alongside and a pillar.

The van guy was honking his horn a little and I heard him shout ‘get an effin move on’ as he passed he was shaking his head.

I wasn’t happy and spotted him stuck in the queue to exit the car park as I walked past. His window was open so I asked him what the problem was, he st himself and denied it all.

He wasn’t so gobby F2F.

I know who he is and will certainly see him around in a pub sometime soon.

About 15 years ago having just bought a new car I was parked in a car park ,and a lady driving along decided to pull in next to me but nearly took my wing off as she was that close.
Then the witch opened her door and hit my passenger door , Me being calm ,just put window down and asked her not to hit my car with her door and to be more careful, Then window up, then she hit my rear door with her door , so me still calm hopped out my car and round to state "I would be grateful if you wouldn't keep hitting my car with hers "
She said "It's only a car "
Well
I said "YES it's only a car BUT IT'S MY fking CAR and I worked hard to get it so be a bit more F King careful , and left.
Only time I have got out to someone .

You could be taking it easy on yourself. You should be making it easy on yourself!

About 1998 some bloke cut me up and started giving me hand signals. I got back in front (I was young and stupid) and stopped infront of him. I jumped out of my mini and he st himself, I don't think he was expecting someone 6"3 and about 17 stone to get out of a classic mini. It was a long time ago and his car didn't have central locking so he pressed down on the door lock pins on each door then shot off in reverse. God knows what I would have done if he had got too.

I've since grown up and I don't engage.

Once, 40 odd years ago.

I was stopped in a car park with the window down, and some bloke ran over out of nowhere and punched me through the window.
Next thing I know I'm standing next to my car asking him "what the fk was that about?"

I'm an unfit scrawny bloke, I wasn't intending to fight him, and was probably slightly in shock.
His mate was already running over, calmed him down - apparently someone shouted an insult and he thought it was me.
I got a grudging half-apology, and we parted.

Yes i have.

I challenged him pulling out across infront of me last moment by raising my hand and saying out of the window 'what the hell was that about'?

He immediately stopped, jumped out (parallel to me) and reached in to grab me by my throat.

I jumped out and verbally tore him one.

Then there was the bloke who decided he'd cut across traffic and steer into my wing (no I hadn't driven close to the car infront to block him). I had to steer out of lane to avoid his contact.

At the red light I jumped out and he told me to fk off you little prick through his closed window.

His wife was staring at him from the passenger seat.

The ironic thing is he was about 5ft2 and quite thin.

On both occasions both blokes weren't big, weren't built like wrestlers nor were they psycho types.

A steel shell with locks remarkably makes some people think they can let their true personalty out.

The weird thing is the one who went to grab my throat must have realised the size and build difference so why do it?

Never got out of a car buy as a cyclist it’s surprising the number of complete nutters who get annoyed by us cycling too fast / too slow / riding side by side / not riding side by side / flltering / not using cycle paths / using cycle paths (lorry driver who objected to me being on a cycle path FFS). Without exception they are all complete knobs but as cyclist you can’t drive off / shut your doors so situations have to be handled pretty diplomatically. Cars are straight forward compared to bicycles when it comes to road rage. That’s why I MTB quite a bit….

I'm extremely placcid and a raging nut job.

There is only one thing that flips the switch when I'm on the road - being on two wheels.

So I always give anyone on 2 wheels a wide pass and avoid.

Maybe it's the knowledge that my life is firmly at the hands of someone else?

When I was about 10 yrs old my Gran lived next to a small car park, when my Dad was waiting to enter the carpark this clown flew in the exit and parked in the space now vacant. My Dad got out lost it with the guy who stayed sat in his car. My Dad said to him either give up the space or you'll come back to all your tyres down ! He ignored my dad and yours truly was I instructed to let all the tyres down. Was quite funny watching the guy wheeling his wheels down the road to the garage to inflate them from my Grans window !! Used that trick twice since....

Misspelling there - it’s ‘flaccid’ . Commiserations.

Years ago when I had my newborn son in the car.

Had to brake evasively to avoid an accident with a youngish lad in a C1 VTS who was trying to swerve in and out of traffic heading in to Newcastle.

If he’d have put his hand up to say sorry I’d have still called him a t1t but no more than that. When I saw him laughing in the rear view mirror it wound me right up.

Unfortunate for him we were in heavy slow moving traffic and he didn’t have anywhere to go to escape. He eventually had to stop outside of the fire station in Newcastle centre though.
