F56 Mini headlights brighter than the sun?
Discussion
Are these the brightest headlights on any car? Considering the fact they are on a conventional sized car they aren't half bright.
Lights on tall vehicles will naturally be at eye level but when these Mini lights are leaving a shadow of my head on my headlining they must surely be too bright???
I've got tinted rear glass (factory fit of course) and an auto dimming mirror but they are still intensely bright.

Seems to be a bit of a trend having poorly adjusted lights straight from the factory.
Contrary to popular belief auto adjusting headlights (or at least the ones that don't have a adjuster in the car) are still adjustable usually by means of a simple screw in the light body under the bonnet.
I've had to do this to both cars in my household and takes usually no more than a couple of minutes.
My internal monologue when approaching one of these goes:
"The daft sod has left main beam on,"
"No they haven't. Their lights are brighter than the sun."
"Oh, its a Mini. Of course."
So yes, I think they're mega bright. Seem to catch my eyes with the blue cutoff section which is particularly annoying too.

Sat behind a new Mini clubman recently and I did wonder if they have the brightest brake lights I've seen on any car.
Painfully bright and nothing I could do but put my hand over my eyes!
By coincidence I was following a mini Thursday night and whilst being very bright, I also thought they were a terrible design (not the Union Jack flag design) But the round indicator light in the middle of the cluster.. might have been this model:Painfully bright and nothing I could do but put my hand over my eyes!
The rear brake light is so bright that the indicator flashing light illumination is lost in the middle of all the brightness.

The LED headlights are nice and bright on my F56 Cooper S...especially when compared to the headlights on my E90 330i with only halogens before it!
The E90 halogens were the equivalent of a pair of candles strapped to the front of the car. Bloody useless.Steamer said:

Quite a few cars like that. I followed a new Merc estate, maybe a C class... but it's indicators were the Audi esque led set up however said led strip seemed very short and centred in the cluster so as soon as the chap / chapette braked, the indicator was all but lost in the brake light and my eyes are pretty good. Yes, the wife has a new Clubman with the LED headlights, and sometimes when we're juggling the cars around on the drive my retina's take a pounding, especially as the drive is on a slope so if she's facing "uphill" the effect is worse.
The problem is, her last Mini had the normal halogens which were not so good, relatively speaking, so when we changed we wanted something better. But let's face it, I think even the most cheap and basic headlights fitted to the cheapest and most basic cars have been adequate for the last 30+ years. The trouble is these days everyone wants to drive as fast at night as they do during the day, so want the road lit to allow it. And sod whoever's coming the opposite direction.

Minis, some Audis and Mercs, vans and SUVs (especially JLR) with LED headlights make for very unpleasant driving at night.
Yup, its yet another modern issue that makes driving such a pain. Also, try driving a diddy MK1 Ford Ka whilst being followed by an Audi/Range Rover/BMW SUV with these lights - its not fun!! Would be all right if they kept their distance, but as you know, the bigger the car, seemingly the closer you have to drive to the car in front....
