Rainsports are often reccomended by the same people who used to run Toyos T1's.

).
Anyone that thought toyo T1’s are good tyres knows nothing about tyre performance they are/were cheap budget rubbish.

I'd suggest the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 5. They're (roughly) on par with the PS4 in terms of grip, perhaps a little behind, but they were significantly (about 25%) cheaper when I bought a set of four and have a firmer sidewall, so IMO "feel" better than the Pilot Supersports I had before.
I have them on my EP3. Great tyres.

Bearing in mind the Eagles often come up significantly cheaper than PS4s, they seem to fly below the radar.
I’ve ran Eagle F1 Asy3’s for a few years, and currently have a set of 3’s on the rear and Asy5’s on the front. I can’t fault them, grippy in the dry, and very surefooted in the wet. Breakaway is very progressive, and lateral grip is very good (but then I do have an AWD) Unless something pretty decent comes along in the same price range, I shan’t be moving away from the Eagle F1s anytime soon.

I wonder if there’s some confusion between the PS4 and the PS4S? The S is the one you want, the replacement for the SuperSport. The PS4 is just their mid-range sporty tyre.

My new Golf R came with 19" rims fitted with Continentals which felt like they were made out of concrete both for NVH and grip. I put PS4's on as soon as I could and they transformed the car for the better. They have also lasted loads longer than the Continentals did.

My son bought a new R at the same time as me, but fitted with 18" rims and Dunlops, similar story.

Just bite the bullet and stump up for the Michelins!

PS4's if you're not worried about snow/super wet performance.

You don't mention budget or mileage requirements, but if you're after super performance at lowish miles I can heartily recommend AD08R's, amazing tyres.
Probably do 8-10k miles a year, got 330 bhp coming through the front wheels!

Not considered AD08R
fiesta st by any chance?

theres only so much tyres can do with that power in a fwd, get an lsd thatll help more.

Case in point - PS4s or PS4Ss?

I have Michelin ps4s on my Tesla model 3
I have michelins on my Clio 182
I had michelins on my Scirocco R
I had michelins on my golf GTi edition 30

I like michelins a lot, won't fit anything else.

Another one to throw in to the mix,

Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport.

I'm going to give this a try when the PS4 are finished. 18 wheels so the PS4S is not available to me. The F1 SS are Goodyears attempt to take on the PS4S which we know is a step up from the PS4.

They seem to be priced pretty competitively to.

I wouldn't even consider Rainsports for any of my cars.

I’m a big Michelin fan, with PSS on my MINI and PS4 on my RS4, both 18”s. There was talk that PS4S would become available for this wheel size, but unfortunately I’ve not seen any yet

The Mazda MPS FB group here recommend PS4s or Bridgestone RE003s for our cars, I've got Hankook Ventus Evo 2s and they do the job. But will get PS4s next.

Where I'm based in NZ, winter is generally wind and rain so no need for winter tyres.

AD08RS' will struggle in the very wet and can get a bit skatey when the temp is below zero.
I currently have Cup 2's on mine and whilst they're fine in the wet, now it's getting cold too i'm getting more traction issues.
IMO, Pilot Sport 4's, or Rainsport 3/5.
I've got a circa 280hp FWD Megane RS.

BTW OP, you don’t mention the sizes involved. If the PS4S isn’t available in your size then the MPSS is the alternative.

The main issue nearly everybody is missing here is that like for like, comparable grip and performance the Michelins last a lot longer. My Civic Type R (320hp FWD) used up the excellent Conti SP6 in 6000 miles on the front, the just as grippy PS4S lasted twice the miles in identical driving.

PS4 is up tp 18" , PS4S is 19" and above I think. Neither are quite as sticky as the Supersport they replaced though

IME the Eagle F1s last about as well as the Michelins.

225/40 R18

I am running a golf edition 30 with 330bhp

I've heard the PS4s don't last long at all, so for me I need something that has me changing once every 8k or so, I could stomach that.

As the weather is poor and I live in the north west something that handles the wet weather is a must too.

Loads of suggestions so far much appreciated!

Not sure where you heard that but PS4s last very very well for a UHP tyre. The ones on the front of my Saab have done 20k miles and still have 2.5mm left. In comparison Pirelli PZeros lasted 6k miles.

If you get through PS4s in less than 8k miles then either your tracking is out or your commute incorporates the Stelvio Pass.

Another vote for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5's. Just got a new set of front tyres and I only have good things to say about them. Grippy in the dry and pretty decent in the wet too. Loads of confidence in them and bought them for £86 a corner.

Have you got a front wheel drive?
