Shmee150 is the only YT automotive channel I watch daily. He does put in a lot of effort because it's hard to turn out automotive content that's entertaining almost daily in the middle of winter. My only wish is he adds a Lamborghini to his stable, maybe Rana can push him to get a SVJ.

One YT'ber who I really don't understand is Supercar Blondie. Her content is subpar, feels very rushed and sometimes I get the feeling she really doesn't care about what she's reviewing but yet she has tons of subs and views. I also find it interesting that a lot of manufacturers roll out the red carpet for her whilst other big YT'bers get no access. I don't get her appeal.
Because men like looking at women and cars.
I also find her annoying. She seems to just be invited to obscure concept or very limited edition cars by manufacturers which attract a certain clientele that would not be out of place in cities like Dubai. She talks right out of a manufacturers brochure and her comment section gushes with praise. But then you get the idea the people commenting have sun deficiency and could hack into CIA's computers in a lunch break.

Christ! You need to get out more if you 'daily' Shmug. He's the utter embodiment of what's wrong with YT. I'd suggest you broaden your world, just a little... go on... I dare you.
If you think I'm the worst and problem with YouTube, you are very lucky that you haven't fallen down the rabbit hole and found some of the other things out there!

Tim knows his audience and spoon feeds them what they want so they can live vicariously through him. And he quite righty does well out of it. There’s nothing wrong with that. A lot of successful companies/personalities do that. But it’s in no way motoring journalism. It’s not LJK Setright. Is it vacuous? Of course it is. Is it content for the sake of it? Of course it is. 15 minutes about screwing a number plate to a Z4. Endless Topaz adverts... Tune in and tune out.

Television, the drug of the nation...

Agreed about Supercar Blondie.

Whenever I see her pop up on my feeds, she's usually next to some non-existent concept car that you can't actually drive or buy.

Don't get it at all.

The Saudi Government has also paid to put on the 'Saudi SEMA' last week and paid several influencers etc to attend. Several of the Motor Trend hosts were there (female hosts in noticably modest clothing).

Extra Bonus Points to Matthew Farrah for turning down his invite and calling out those who attended as stooges for despots.
It was an event that mixed SEMA, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Pebble Beach and the Geneva Motorshow all into one 6-day activity, and honestly I have to say for a first round it's fairly remarkable what an event they managed to put on - no doubt however at great cost.

For Saudi Arabia it is part of a big shift to increase tourism and other areas of their economy and reduce the dependency on oil over time under what they call "Vision 2030". It was very heavy on the influencer front because people were invited through all sorts of different means; via the organisers, local dealerships, friends, manufacturers etc - very similarly to the big motorshows and FOS for example.

To be honest it was quite extraordinary how many people they got into attendance; Richard Rawlings and the Gas Monkey Garage team, Ryan and the West Coast Customs team, Koenigsegg, Pagani, Aston Martin, Apollo, Brabus, Silverstone Auctions, the Ferrari XX Programme demonstrations, Terry Grant stunts and that's just naming a few.

The fact Matt Farah "chose" not to attend what has immediately become one of the greatest events in the automotive calendar suggests another agenda to me; perhaps his personal schedule, perhaps a limited budget, who knows. I anticipated a level of discussion around such an event being held in Saudi Arabia but have been impressed by the general response and feedback; ultimately they put on a show worthy of the attention it has been given and I already look forward to next year.
Or perhaps Matt simply doesn't like a very brutal Saudi regime who dismember their journos (whilst they're alive) and academics for fun? So what if all those acts were there doesn't validate anything for me as I have a moral compass. If those acts you mention did something the Saudis didn't like you'd be gunned down like mice and buried in the desert never to be seen again. Right and wrong Tim, values etc mean something to the civilised world, you're in a responsible position and maybe should use your platform accordingly?

I don't think making favourable comments about a show implies approval of the regime of the country where it was held. Most of the Western world does business with Saudi - the UK sells arms to the regime. Deciding not to attend their show hardly makes much of a stand against the regime. Does attending SEMA imply approval of a leader who thinks it's a joke to grab women by the pussy?

Not a Stradman viewer normally but the Veyron in the snow video is fairly awesome and quite enjoyable to watch. I don't generally envy the super rich but I would very much like to drive a AWD 1000bhp HyperCar in the snow.
Yep, fantastic vid. This is epic!

Not sure if it's just me, but I hate it when people talk about money, it seems like clickbait and just fishing for views.

Seems like the car guys seem more interested in polishing and looking at their cars and worrying about values than actually driving them, so not my cuppa.
Not sure putting 6k miles on a TDF is 'more interested in polishing and looking at their cars and worrying about values than actually driving them'

Seen that Richard Hammond video on his new Morgan, leave it to youtube comments to spec your car and could almost guarantee it would be matte black, black wheels and red interior laugh

It was only the choice of red or blue interior he let youtube spec or I suspect it would've ended up looking like a Noddy replica.

Looked like it goes pretty well.

When Aston Martin reached 1 million likes on Facebook they let the audience vote for the spec of a DB9 and it ended up being black, with a black interior, with black trim and black wheels. Needless to say the car they built wasn't that.

I learned a long time ago in my content; never let the audience vote on something like this!

Not sure about that at all. People taking their blood stained millions for any event in Saud validates and reinforces their actions IMO. We're basically telling them IMO we don't care that they merrily chop up human beings whilst they're alive etc and thats not the worst of it - people disappear in the Middle Aest all the time if you put one of the senior Royal's nose out of joint or even people closely connected to them wield enormous power. The human rights violations are off the scale not just in Saud but across the Middle East where these benevolent dictators rule. They can go on the charm offensive as long as they like. It won't make any difference once their oil money runs out its curtains and you watch how their own people turn on them (and it will happen one day). I'd have said the same to AJ having his rematch out there but the attraction of £50m purse too strong I guess. I won't pay to watch another AJ fight just on principle. No way.

Read through some pages here, hadn't realised GFWilliams was making vids so will have to check them out! Been following him on IG for ages.

Also surprised I hadn't seen - SeenThroughGlass mentioned, his drive the world series last year was insane, the constant quality content that nobody else is doing and production value is incredible.

What is happening with most of the UK yt`ers? No content anymore? SOL is doing training vids, others are not uploading regularly, etc. Maybe January slows stuff down.

January is slow, but there does seem to be a slight move away from constant filler, which can only be good for everyone involved.

Given how random the YT algorithm is, it makes sense for the current crop of YTers to move to more brand deals and less regular ‘churning’ vids. They have to earn a regular living, and YT is all over the place right now.
