Are these Vloggers just a scam? SOL or Shmee etc? (Vol. 3)

Incredible that a major car manufacturer like Mercedes has given schmee the access to cover the black series and be part of the marketing process as they have. A water shed moment I feel.
They tapped The Weeknd to launch the Benz EQ and Tim for the Black Series so I would say it's a very big deal. Jayessgee said:
I know he gets a hard time from some on this forum (for reasons best known to those people) but i really enjoyed JWWs latest video with his back story of wanting to own a 911 Turbo since he was a kid. Really chuffed that he’s got his hands on one and what a beast it looks!

Would have been more excited for him if he had bought one in the original spec he sat in as a child. Granted that it would have been a used car but a nice pristine low mileage one would have been great. That would have been the car that he fell in love with and of which he was given the brochure. What he has bought is the latest
version and the only emotional connection here is that it is a
Porsche 911 turbo. Just my opinion.

Very interesting because amongst us mortal YouTubers MB have a reputation of being one of the most difficult companies to deal with. A shame really as they have a lot of product I would love to try.
I’m not trying to take anything away from Tim here as I’m a big fan and support him, but didn’t Robert Mitchell say that video Tim starred in was a rush/ cover because of the photo leak? Hence the theme of the video. Unless I’ve got the wrong end of the stick. Presumably getting Lewis or Bottas back to Germany while they are in the middle of a triple F1 stint was impossible at such short notice?Shmee said:
It was filmed a long time before you saw it, you can't film a video like that with a 30+ person crew, shot on RED cameras over 3 nights, and have it edited and live just 18 hrs after a leak...
Fair enough, congratulations on being the Mercedes go to guy now! Now solar beam yellow ....

Presumably because YouTubers have a free voice and don't need clearance from anyone before they put out content. This brings risk.MB will see the Shmee brand as a very safe one, unlikely to be filmed doing donuts on the North Circular or openly criticising basically anything.

SOL another shocking video. When will he actually have any good video ideas? I'm sure the last couple have all been in dealerships. Need's to get more creative.
Usual format, "buying for girlfriend".. mooching around dealership, "owning" car for a month or so, it disappearing from the channel amongst the usual running through tunnels or having unnecessary mods done to the M2 Competition... They’ve come an long way from an open lot on the Seven Kings High Road and a load of ropey old Rangies and Shoguns

More than a bit contrived, imo, when it is obvious that he could have bought a 911 Turbo S any time he wanted over the past few years.
That was my take on it too. He made it sound as if he'd been saving up for the last 20 years and was finally able to buy his dream car whereas the reality is he could have bought one at any time since he's been a youtuber rather than several GT3's, TDF, Speciales etc. That said it does look fantastic. The exterior spec and colour is absolutely perfect IMO. Interior isn't something I would have gone for though although it still works.
Surprisingly enjoyable video from Archie on his first weekend racing in the Cayman GT4.
I don't imagine it'll be as popular with the "THAT'S CHAOS" crowd he's been appealing to for a while now, but we'll see. I just really hope he doesn't give up on it if the viewer numbers aren't there.

The 'leaks' are done by the manufacturers. They are all carefully planned and arranged as it gives them the publicity they so desire.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
