As for Farah not having the funds to go, I'd suggest he's one of the few 'influencers' that has DGAF money and can speak his mind without worry for his 'career'.
I never said Farah didn't have the funds to go, their budget might not have offered him what he'd like considering size of channel etc. Of all the regular car YouTubers, he is probably the individual from the wealthiest background.

Slightly on/off topic, but I would hate to be a new car youtuber starting up now. It is so saturated that new channels seem to struggle for subscribers unless they offer something very unique. Not worth the hassle, especially with the lack of money from AdSense etc.
Just look at what a lot of channels are doing, most of the big ones are having to spend literally hundreds of thousands just to keep their views up. Now they do have the viewer base to support it but someone new trying to keep up is going to have to do something very unique.

I'd also say that you only need to look at STG with drive the world, it all sounded amazing to start off with, and i did take a following to it, but personally i don't think it matters how much of a die hard car fanatic you are, there's only so much of the same thing you can watch before it gets repetitive.

I think a lot of people also thought that we were going to see him constantly travelling around in the 911 but it never turned out like that, he himself even admitted that he's only done half of the mileage he thought he would do, and that he's run out of money.

That's why I lost interest. When Shmee took the GT to America, HubNut took his 2CV to Croatia and currently touring New Zealand in the Ford Falcon, even when JWW took his 458 to Dubai, you feel as though the car is part of the adventure. Apart from a few of the videos from Australia I never got that from Drive The World. I think the video views sadly reflect that too.

Looks like Petroldiaries (sure he’s been mentioned here before) has bought a Gallardo Superleggera which is a hell of an upgrade for a small channel!!

My heart bleeds for Sam. It's so hard when you don't even know where the next AirBnb is coming from cry They are all vying for attention, even HubNut in NZ isn't quite the same, but I guess it makes a change from a wet field in Wales in an invalid carriage rolleyes

SOL video discussing a Ferrari he doesn't really like much but has ordered anyway (599?) from Dubai
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gcbDMRFmis
(clickbait as this isn't even the car, but the car he's bought is on it's way)

The days of these lads jumping in their cars, heading off down thru France and around Monaco seem to be over, they were actually enjoyable to watch. They even have these Garage Queens put in a lorry so they don't add too much mileage to them and ruin their equity... nuts

I guess the thing is that unless you get the views then it's all for a loss really, obviously there will be a certain percentage they have to pull out of their own pocket first to travel to different places for different content, but if the views don't come through then what's the point? Yes they can say they still love what they do but then how long do you carry that on before you simply have to say no one is interested and time to call it a day?

I use to like watching SOL videos but then he does drone on sometimes to the point i have stopped watching the video so far through, not sure how that affects the views, do people have to watch the entire thing for it to be classed as 1 view?

As for the last bit, that's why i do like a lot of the shmee video's, yes a lot is repetitive but he's not necessarily scared to drive his cars for fear of losing too much money, the Mercedes GTR been a fine example and recently his Ford GT, I have so much more respect for people like that rather than those who have them sat in dry storage somewhere never been used.

But that's just my opinion.

As Tim has proven a few times. He can sit on his sofa, do a one-take recording and just review the latest interesting car release with the stock images as a backdrop. Costs him probably an hour or two of his time and gets a ton more views than some expensive and highly planned roadtrip.

Not enough to sustain a channel, but you see where I'm coming from.

Great vid, and some insight into testing exactly what a man with his skills should be churning, all the other stuff with the Exton twins is a bit cringe. Hopefully it will get a load of views and Archie will concentrate on his track work

599 is a great choice. There's way better value available than that £165k example he tested, and hopefully he snagged a better vfm one in Dubai. Has to add 20% VAT, coming from Dubai, right?

It certainly isn't necessary to spend hundreds of thousands to keep a channel afloat. Lots of larger channels will be getting things at a heavily discounted rate compared to what most people will pay.

The big channels are all doing very different things compared to what they were a few years ago. Some for better, some for worse. Perhaps I am lucky to have started later because I didnt experience the huge kicking in ad revenue that I believe has occurred a couple of times.

The opportunities which come to us we don't always have control over, and that often means what happens on the channels can be just as big a surprise for us as anyone else. Particularly for small channels like myself, I am not in a position where I can just summon up anything, but I do get offered some incredible things to film.

Personally, I am excited for the future for all of us.

For those unaware Matts father is the Chairman of that back street jewellery store... Tiffany And Co.... and IIRC a few clothing brands too. He was VP of Ralph Lauren and has something to do with Metro Bank so money is not really an issue in the Farah household.

I think Nico Rosberg is probably the wealthiest car vlogger though by quite a long way....

I wonder what cut the chairman gets of the $16bn buyout that’s just happened?
