I was staying at that hotel in Florence when Polestar where doing their photoshoot, although I only saw a white car around.

It looked very very handsome in the flesh, with great road presence and that futuristic concept car look - tight and few shut lines, no plastic trims anywhere etc.
Didn’t get to sit in it but the interior seemed very well built with leather and carbon fibre everywhere.
If it wasn’t for badge snobbery (which I’m also guilty of) and “poor” 4 cyl power train choice, I’d say it would be a valid competitor to the Bentley CGT, particularly as a more understated option.

In the flesh these are fantastic looking cars.

Yes its heavy, complicated and expensive. Ultimately its whats expected having a shed load of batteries, motors and a regular engine and stuff.

I think these will become collectors cars quickly.

I believe they also charged these from hydrogen at the launch. Forward thinking.

I’ve just got my V90 T8 Plug in Hybrid and I love it! Last car was a 2018 BMW X5 40e and the Volvo is the superior car x100!

The tech is brilliant! Love the app that lets me start and heat the car remotely but that’s all fluff as I love the way it drives. It’s not perfect, it has torque steer, you have to guess how much grip you have left. It’s fast in a straight line and a great overtaker. I haven’t plugged it in yet but the engine will charge the batteries after which I can get 36 ish mpg. It’s beautifully made, massive inside and feels a little like 400bhp. I think this Polestar looks great but I wonder if it’s worth double the Volvo

This looks nice, but it only hides an engineering brief disaster.

It's heavier than a pure BEV with the same power and overall range
It's less spacious due to the engine and overall calamitous packaging
It's more expensive, despite lifting the whole interior from the parts bin

I'd say this is the exact opposite from BMW i Series, i8 especially. the i8 has the same number of seats, a comparable architecture, same performance, and a bit less than half the range. But it is 800kg lighter, minimum!!! I mean come on, no engineer should say they are happy from that result!

Probably the worst car on sale today from an engineering point of view, and among the worst new cars from an ecological point of view.

So much want, wonder how much these will depreciate in the first year?
Well, nearly 5 years later, we have an answer to that question.
Close to none!
And i talk about the 5 year span, since this was written.
If you find one in europe, it either around the new price, or even above.
Where did they all go? 1500 is not a lot, but more than nothing and you hardly see any on the road.
A shame! As it seems to turn out that they are really good cars.
A nice gt, where i d miss only a better engine sound...
Which you could even use on the ring. There the limit of 155 miles per hour vmax would be a pain,
as you d spend a while in the limiter. But all the rest there seems/looks great fun
