Definitely, because unless I missed something a DC2 isn't any more of a hatch than my MK2 Escort RS2000 was!

I'd vote for an Escort Cosworth, BMW M140i, M135i, 130i then E46 325ti.

But if 2 seater hatches were included I'd put an E86 Z4M Coupe ahead of most of them, and a 3.0Si Z4 Coupe ahead of the 130i!
