It probably needs all that speed to outrun its reflection. Theres no escaping the fact its ugly.
Youd think in this day and age they'd sacrifice 0.1 seconds for a better looking car.
Have to agree, that's one very ugly car IMO, no elegance at all.

All the better to bully lesser people out of the way I suppose.

Much as I would like one of these, there are several negatives for me;
Weight (excessive?), looks (something a mother could only love), and that VED figure. Wow now that VED is a big hit, how much is the VED for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years, as I guess it may have quite an impact on how they are received on the used market after they are ditched by company directors etc...
Regarding the VED, the £2k figure is included in the on the road price, so while it is very much there you see it as part of the overall price of the car (like with options). After that it will be circa £540 for 5 years, subject to government increases and then after that will be circa £145 for the rest of it's life, again subject to government increases.

In short, after 5 years it will be a bloody bargain on VED!

Epic, love the looks, but it needs to be in nardo grey with red callipers and all black wheels (yeah I am chav so what)

Worrying about running costs though, are we on autocar? As someone has said, this will be on PCP, servicing included, gave back in 3 years - that's the next 'dealers' problem...

p.s. can the writer please explain the board comment, its vexing me...

You think Nick Mason listens to Pink Floyd while driving? smile Anyways the Audi drivers I used to meet didn’t strike me as Pink Floyd fans. More like gangsta rap or something... biggrin
And he replaced that with.......Another RS6!

VED, running costs, lease deals etc. I've never met anyone that can afford a car such as the RS6 (new) that can't afford to run it too. That's where the 3rd or 4th owner comes in.

But, curiously, not as fking cool as the new Tron E-Tron Sport, which even projects onto the road the width of your vehicle. Which of course, along with the active headlight shuttering, will be totally useless as soon as typical UK road grime starts to cover the headlamp lenses, and blinds everyone oncoming anyway.

With that and the less than cutting edge air suspension, Audi do seem to be pulling the RS6 back a fair distance from being the flagship car.

I wish Audi and BMW would get over the basking shark look.

I loved my C7 RS6 and so want the performance version of this when it comes out but heavy price hike, expensive options that should be standard and 200kg heavier than the C7 RS6 has me rethinking. It needs that extra torque just to pull the additional weight equivalent to a car full of passengers!
Performance version?
Gods Holy trousers, isn’t the power of this behemoth enough? Are we talking about 700bhp estates as standard (standard being a relative term of course...)

Thanks for clarifying, I really didn’t know what it would be as I don’t operate in that stratosphere
And I guess it will then make running it more palatable when it does fall into the clutches of people like me.

I like my Audi's, but IMO that front bumper looks like a Halfords ram raid, completely mis-aligned with the rest of the lines of the car.

Rear isn't any better.

It'll be a typical RS6, brutally fast and burn you at the pump and service time.

That was my thought as well biggrin

A Range Rover Holland & Holland would probably be better for a shooting break.

2.1 tonnes and sounds like unsprung mass the size of a small planet (36kg taken out with ceramics!? 22 inch wheels!). Not really the raw ingredients I'd want in a supposedly performance car.

Unless your commute involves 100 miles of derestricted autobahn and a casual disregard for fuel costs and the planet, what the heck is the point?

Interesting, you drive a Superb 280. A large performance car, not too dissimilar to the RS6, AWD and a turbo charged engine.

I can only assume you drive regularly on the auto bahn, don't mind the expense of fuel or worry about the environment... otherwise you would have a lesser version of the same car, or a smaller car?

The new RS6 just looks right in my eyes. Performance wise it appears to be very fast. The weight is fine IMO, how light do you want your super saloon to be??
