I really like the new design. Especially the cabrio version. Makes the old one look dated (which is the sign of good design) and in the above side-by-side shot, actually makes the old one look big and un-gainly! (although that's likely just the angle of the photo).
Few problems there (ultimately ending up again at 'subjectivity')A 'new' design making the 'old' one look old is no surprise...or it shouldn't be.
A 'new' design being 'better' than the 'old'...arguably is much harder to measure.
Previously the F-Type had a Jag face all of it's own, apart from maybe a similarly shaped grille.
Now they have slapped on the lights that mimic the family cars and from the front at least the F-Type distinction has gone.
...and personally, as I've said already, the company moving to the zeitgeist angry face is a really sad thing...as in the rear view mirror at first glance it could now be any Audi/VW/Merc. It would've been good I think for Jaguar to take a different path in terms of the face of its cars.
I have specced a v8 roadster in Portofino Blue and think it looks stunning! Having owned a previous model v8r I think the tech updates were well overdue, and though maybe not cutting edge, certainly good enough. Tidying up some of the trim inside, tidying up the front end, and chucking in the 575 SVR engine of old and I am seriously tempted!! For me Jaguar has addressed what I have considered as the shortcomings of the older version and the 575 is the cherry on the cake.

Wow, side by side it really looks Gash compared to the original
Agreed. They’ve certainly managed to fk up a good looking car. Gad-Westy said:
I hadn't realised they'd introduced new boredom to the the rear as well as the front. Really does look so bland compared to the original.
Ian Callum remains the only person who can successfully design a car, apparently. Although his personal projects are a bit wacky and he does his best work when under the shackles of an OEM, IMHO.rb26 said:
You probably ARE the only one. It's 2020 not 1950. Best start reading classic car magazines, grow a beard, dig out the string-backed gloves & flat cap & check out your nearest owners club Noggin' & Natter. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
