Him: Merc Sprinter
Me: M135i (2016 RWD)

Wet greasy cold road. I was sat there with my TC light lit up like a disco lamp on speed after 5 coffees. Sprinter fully loaded. No traction issues. By the time I had blended out the throttle he was off and the road returned to single carriageway.

Result me going to replace my 1.5mm remaining rear tires.

Because he had a Civic Type R and, unprompted, put down his window and starting talking about the his Civic Type R which caused me to fall asleep.

Oh, but I did. I shouldn’t have though. On my left is an AMG GLC63 and on my right is a new Golf R that has already been set to LaunchRaceSuperFastTractionNutter mode, judging by the noise it’s making.

So, two, modern, AWD, auto turbo sprinters and me in a 928. With a manual box. Oh, and a new Boxster behind me.

On green the AMG with its gym owner driver disappears. I go, and as we’re on a slight curve, get a squirm from the change to second. And then the Golf farts past, tattooed arms flailing out the windows. Stereotypes, who needs ‘em...?

It was only about 100m all up but was enough for the Golf to get to the back of the traffic queue first as the AMG had turned left into KFC, and I went left into a side street, narrowly avoiding a Boxster in the (surprisingly commodious) boot.

Utterly pointless and probably resulted in the death of a 1000 unicorns. But this is PistonHeads.

Because that was exactly what I was expected to do so I did the opposite. Waited until the green light then VERY slowly moved away allowing masses of others to whizz by only to have to juggle around for space as the dual-carriageway became single & ahead was a mile of gridlocked traffic. Me? I just sat back, enjoyed the lovely fresh air & sunshine, turned up the radio ( you cannot beat a convertible on a bright winters day) & laughed at their childish egocentric behaviour.

Because I thought I had Little Deuce Coupe cued up and ready to go but when the lights changed I hit Play and Little Saint Nick came on. Hopeless.
