Time to move on.

Obviously trying to sell it on nostalgia rather than the quality of the story and characters etc.

Not a good sign.
You know that this is a movie and not a documentary, right?

It's called entertainment. Relax and enjoy it.

I don't understand why some people can't watch a movie without picking it apart.

Just be happy it's got lot's of British built cars.
I liked Casino Royale but still struggled a bit.

The Craig movies feel highly real, very intense (balls crushing scene, woman about to have arm cut off etc) but the next moment you have to suspend disbelief of completely stupid actions/situations.

It gets picked apart because the previous ones have been st, unable to have me suspend disbelief in an enjoyable way.

And all he does is smash his cars up, or enjoy an over-powered car.

Casino Royale, rolls it. Great.

In this one. Gatling guns in lights is very tongue in cheek, way beyond Moore, but then the tone of other bits of the film is dead serious.

What happened to just having a nice car, driven well, achieving an important in-film task, in a semi-believable way?

Fine if the tone is all a bit OTT for the film, like Living Daylights, but these Craig ones aren’t.
You can’t mix these things, it just comes across as st.

Reading this thread, and some of the frankly weird posts in it, I can see why the rumours of the new owners of this site planning on eventually closing this forum down might be real. It'll likely end up becoming more trouble than it's worth.

Because everyone came here for the editorial.

If you feel the forums are superfluous then do us all a favour and stop using them, and bhing when people share an opinion.

You’re clearly opinion intolerant.

I assume everyone on here watched the trailer so we must have some interest or curiosity about the film.

Maybe it would be a good idea to go and watch the film in its entirety next year before passing judgement.

No Evija! To be fair, not sure on how it's power train would cope with salt water....but they managed it with an Esprit.

A bit more on topic, from the trailer it looks good, the next Bond actor has some shoes to fill, I think DC has done the role proud.

So we are meant to believe that the British Secret Service can afford a £750,000+ Aston martin DB5 ?

Casino Royale - He wins a standard Db5
Skyfall - implied its his own restored car from previous movies.
Spectre - Supplied by Q branch

Looks like they are introducing a new Politically Correct "00" agent
That way the next film can have them as the main character without killing off 007, maybe.
in the snowflake world we live in, the new agent will be transgender / lesbian / black just for the sake of ticking all the boxes.
The fight for equality always goes too far in the other direction.

Have you seen the new Clio advert. Couple of childhood friends, then without the need to; other than to tick a box, they are lesbians.

I expect to get shot down for this frown but surely in this day and age i am allow to have an opinion without being called a neanderthal.

Love that people are complaining the film is woke- it hasn’t even been released yet how would you know what’s in it?
Love that people are whining about sjw’s more than the sjw’s and can’t spot the irony.
within broad parameters I do get where you're coming from - however a number of high profile re-boots have fallen flat on their arses (as predicted before their release) precisely because of their 'wokeness'. Go woke, go broke

I'll make a prediction. This movie will be so "woke" that James Bond will actually die. Dead. Shuffled off this mortal coil. Pushing up daisies. Joined the choir invisible. In this #metoo world you just can't have a character like Commander Bond any more. I bet it's the only reason Craig agreed to come back for one more time rather than going through with the whole wrist-slitting business. He gets to be the last Bond ever. To kill off the unkillable. They've even given the game away by calling it No Time To Die.

The next 007 will be LGBTQ friendly and that will be the death of the series.

I think I’ll await TV/Netflix/Prime/NowTV, rather than ‘go’ pay at a cinema.

I’d pay to go to the cinema to watch myriad old films, but it always seems like a disappointment paying money to be let down with new films.

Bonds family is/was clearly extraordinarily wealthy as far as I understand, and that would have been passed to James I assume. The Skyfall house must have been worth a few million.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge produces pretty crass comedy for television, so finding out she's spicing up the script for this film puts me off it.

It went to silly when the MI6 building was blown up. I know it's supposed to be make believe and over the top but it has to have some basic realism, especially for the bits filmed in London where we see the character in our own world.

That’s where they break down for me.

Moonraker is bat st crazy.

But the entire story is daft. The piece all feels like one cohesive consistent thing.

Fights in the back of an ambulance, foot on fire extinguisher.
Speedboats dropping mines, then a hang glider eject for going over a huge waterfall.

It’s wonderfully daft and never pretends to be serious.

Blending that classic Bond ‘daft’, with the serious edgy Craig style just makes the films come over as unbelievable.

The only DC one that felt ‘right’ was Casino Royale.

To clarify, yes the stunt was done for real but the bike was not a Triumph Scrambler in the 'actual' stunt and it looks like the Scrambler was digitally superimposed onto the Suzuki RM250 or whatever they used, in addition to Craig in a khaki suit digitally replacing the stunt rider.

Normally I don't mind CGI but for a trailer so rich in real physical stunts, it looks slightly off imho. That said, I'm very happy they did really do the stunt with an apparently digital superimposition, rather than making it purely CGI

Snowflake much? What an absolutely asinine opinion.

Why is it that boomer-types and boomer-adjacents are so quick to call everyone else snowflakes, but then are incredibly intolerant themselves?

Relax sweetheart, just because there are a FEW gay characters in films now doesn't mean there will be in Bond films

Hollywood is a BUSINESS, and they generally only do things to get bums in seats.

If you don't like the idea of trans or other minority representation (and I'm not ashamed to admit that the idea of being transgender makes me slightly uncomfortable), thats fine but lets not make it rather asinine blanket political statements about 'the fight for equality' when you frankly have zero idea what you're on about

Lashana has said in an interview in the Hollywood Reporter:-

“I didn’t want someone who was slick. I wanted someone who was rough around the edges and who has a past and a history and has issues with her weight and maybe questions what’s going on with her boyfriend.”
Could this get more cliched?

“As the perpetrator fled the chateau, Bond instinctively followed. Death for one of the two seemed inevitable. A squeal of wheels announced the hitwoman’s departure.

Bond rifled in her handbag for her keys. Fiendishly buried beneath a mass of receipts, 15 year old loyalty cards and leaking make up, a mere 15 minutes passed until her lightening quick reactions located then.

Changing into her flat shoes (which are like totally so comfortable I mean who even wears heels these days?!) she hurried to her car only pausing when she dropped her handbag and spent 20 minutes picking up the contents.

Leaping into her car, she quickly realised that the villain had fiendishly hindered her escape by making her have to back out of the space. After only 4 attempts, Bond’s masterful driving meant she was out of the space in hot pursuit of the perp. Stopping only to check Facebook, text her mum and put £10 of the wrong fuel in her car, the chase was very much on......”

Pandering to social justice warriors for no real reason; you know - the kind of people that questioned why the movie 'Dunkirk' didn't have more black/disabled/trans people.
What a tremendously ill infomred comment this is.

It's a Bond film, which means it's all about product placement.
The cars, watches, clothes, drinks, etc. are all in shot because the manufacturers paid a lot of money to be in the film.

Bond wears expensive watches, but always a brand known to the general public.
He drinks scotch, but always a brand known to the general public.
Etc. etc.
This has always been the case with Bond movies, but the product placement gets more obvious and jarring with every new episode.

It's a tired and creaky old franchise that could do with a rest and reboot.
