Waking up to climate change and our effect on the planet?
Years of austerity?
The start of electric vehicles?
Great scientific advances?
Some terrible pop music - Gangnam Style?
Some excellent pop music - Adele/Ed Sheeran?
Brexit?
Being able to self identify as a man/woman/potato or anything in between?

I have no idea to be honest. Could be all those things. Don't think it will be looked back with much fondness from a cultural perspective, but maybe people said the same about the 80's.

After last night compounded it, the decade of the Liberal Democrats and Labour being the weakest partners / opposition of ever ah!

And the decade that reversed my own previous austerity and saving mentality and became the decade where I spunked all my wages off, holidays, on houses, women, cars and booze. The rest I can't remember.

And Mark E Smith ah of the Fall ah, finally croaking, I was trying to race him sharing the same birth-date but he got their first. I suspect I will not be around to write this at the end of the 2Ts (*).

Is it just our pet Whattsuptwitterfaceacher at our work that is already calling the next decade the 2Ts, i.e, the 2020s. I told him 2Ts decades sounds a bit like the twuntties decade and got told I was unhip. Yep, fine with that.

I hadn’t noticed the moaning until this decade, seems to have become worse with each vote (internationally too). Although the likes of Twitter and Facebook have given the vocal minority on both sides a platform to amplify, giving the impression there’s more of them.

Gender neutral snowflakes in safe places losing an election whilst listening to grime music.

Think that covers most of it.

I don't think the 10's will be remembered as much as they will be studied. As alarmist as it sounds, I'll be fked if I can remember any other decade as divisive and, for lack of a a better word, 'decadent' as this one. We're eating ourselves.

It's not a left vs. right issue, or even a left vs. loony left issue, but a reason vs. utter fking chaos issue. The 10's are when we largely lost touch with our own culture and as a result we saw a huge increase in fringe groups - whether political, religious or grouped along the lines of gender and sexuality. Everyone was at war with each other, but rather than focusing our energy at introspection we were more concerned with some imagined external issues.

Whatever comes next, I'm pretty sure the 10's will be viewed as the decade we gave it all away on walkover.

The decade could well be seen as the turning point that the stupid / feckless found they had a voice, used it and as a result lowered the average intelligence of the population.
Progressive, collaborative ideas and points are drowned by those who speak loudest / most aggressively / lie the most often.
Just look at Trump as a stellar example - not only of who he is but whom he represents. The idiots awoke.

A decade of quantity over quality for me in so many areas.

yes I think this. The future will see the 10s as the time when whoever told the most creative lies could do pretty much whatever they want - the decade that truth forgot.

A decade where stupidity and ignorance reign so supreme that people choose to ignore all scientific evidence and believe that the earth is actually flat.

The 00s kicked off the digital revolution but the 10s was when it settled down and became mainstream.

It's seen mobile phones mature into what are possibly the most amazing devices humans have ever created. That may be the greatest technical achievement.

The 10s also saw the internet realise its potential for being a fearsome weapon of democracy and people-power, then become a weapon of tyranny that we've probably fked up by handing it all to a few companies in California. frown

There was also the mainstream acceptance of the electric car.

In fact, maybe that's it - the 10s will be remembered as when the age of batteries really began. scratchchin

The biggest thing I think I have noticed in the decade is the awful growth of polarization in politics. From time to time I watch old episodes of ‘Question Time’ and I am often struck by the fact that years ago the participants seem to be allowed to answer the question more fully, without being frequently interrupted and seemed to care far less about getting the sound-bytes in and fishing for applause.

We have a ‘port-truth’ world now, where in the USA one of trump’s most senior representatives literally referred to his lies as ‘alternative facts’. Very ‘1984'.

I have been a bit disappointed reading through the UK election thread that so much pleasure is taken from enjoying the distress of those whose ’tribe’ didn’t do well. I wish we could all work together a bit more and see we have more that unites us than divides us if we try to find it. Perhaps I am being overly idealistic with that though.

I will look back on my passion, F1 racing, having some truly great seasons but losing its glorious sound, which to me has changed it beyond recognition. Where once I felt like a little kid, giddy with excitement as I arrived at the circuit and heard the cars, now they offer little in terms of visceral impact, although they are astonishing machines and faster than ever. It’s been a great pleasure as a fan of Lewis since he was in karts to see him get batter and better and fully fulfill his astonishing talent.

Contrary to the OP I think both Adele and Sheran have produced mainly bilge.
