Do any regular PHers know how often there is a speed camera on the A3 Northbound around Petersfield?
Momentarily just lost concentration like a right idiot when driving behind a FedEx van in the inside lane which I'm sure was also speeding and when I looked at my speedo I was doing around 78mph and after this I've now become paranoid.
It was at around 1720 on Thursday, and I don't recall seeing a mobile unit however my anxiety has led to me worrying that I may have been exceeding the limit greater than this and just zoned out.

I'm normally very careful.

Apologies that it's not the normal upbeat post on here, my anxiety has been playing hell with me. I just need somebody to talk to about it. Doesn't help that it was in a hire car so I don't even have the comfort of the 14 day wait.

Once or twice a month, top whack.

Seen them more on the southbound A3 than northbound.

Thanks, so probably pretty unlikely there was one there at that time.

Yes. If caught at 78mph anyway the likely outcome is you’d be offered a course rather than points/fine.

Speedo showing 78mph, likely you were actually doing 72mph tops, you will be fine.

There are two locations they set up when heading North, first one just before the Queen Elizabeth Country Park entrance although it has to park on the pavement/bike track so not seen it there for a while. Second one at the bottom of Butser Hill just after the Buriton turning.

I'm fairly certain I only started drifting over after the Buriton slip road, so hopefully I'll be okay based off this information and the rest of the information.

Regardless though, if you got caught, you got caught, if you didn't, you didn't.

There is absolutely zero point worrying as you can't change things.

Locals know better than to speed anywhere between Clanfield and Ham Barn at Liss, the speed vans park in various locations both ways, usually changing direction on the same day. Seen as far south as the on-slip at Clanfield and north by Hilliers garden centre, and don't bank on only once or twice a month !

Share your concern, on Saturday, around 13.45 east bound A27 Farlington area, I was perhaps over the limit, my wife said to me, didn't you see the scamera van, no I said, heart in mouth, as I was possibly over. Checked my dash cam on arrival home, only to find my wife had seen road works vehicles parked on hard shoulder, with one of them displaying speed camera logo, relief, evidence deleted. Merry Christmas ho ho ho

The camera van was catching northbound drivers just past the QE Country Park circa 09:30 on Thursday 5th Dec as we were driving up to Petersfield and didn't notice it as quickly as we should have, though we were doing circa an indicated 77mph luckily.

A few months back I was going South up the hill past the country park entrance when the M4 I was behind braked hard down to 70, camera van was round the next corner by the junction (have never seen it there before).

Can only assume M4 had Waze or something as the van was not visible. Either way potentially saved me another course or points.

My Thinkware Dash Cam goes into overdrive both South & Northbound in that vicinity warning of Mobile Cameras. Always very cautious there, watching for brake light waring signs.

The two most frequent locations I have noted Southbound on the A3 are just past the entrance to the Queen Elizabeth Park, you can't see it as there is a left hand curve in the road. Then further up just past the Clanfield turning.

They also sit just where the slip road joins the main carriageway by Hilliers Garden Centre, Liss.

I have seen it by Hilliers as well many a time also southbound just after the Liphook turning before you get to the petrol station.I have seen it Northbound a couple of times by the Queen Elizabeth but it seems mainly between Liphook and Waterlooville southbound that stretch is there hot spot.Another place to be careful on the A32 the other side of Farringdon village on the left as your heading to the A31 they are often there and also have seen a speed trap by the Angel pub on that stretch but that time was police by side of the road with a speed gun.

A3 Northbound just before the M25 and after the BP garage, the van sits in a layby where the road dips and after a bridge so it can't be seen until it's too late.

Must admit it hasn't been there for a while, but when there, it is only there on either a Saturday or Sunday when the A3 is relatively smooth flowing and clear, just when you are more likely to speed, due to the positioning it is clearly there to just rinse people as that area gives good and clear visibility and is a safe part of the A3.

A couple of miles along from there at the Painshill jct is where the accidents used to happen (not seen any in a while though), nothing to do with speed, all about a poor and very busy jct that comes off the M25 and idiots cutting in at the last minute sometimes from L2 and getting rear ended.
