Thumbing through some of my old stuff, I found this price list I requested from Porsche as an optimistic 17 year old. Thoiught you'd all be interested. I found a 944 brochure too, so I was reasonably realistic back then recognising a 911 was beyond my reach!

Using an inflation calculator, the base price for a 911SC of £16,731 would now be £64,349. Very few 'extras' included back then though.

With improved production techniques, most cars have got relatively cheaper, but not the 911!

Interesting that the 928 was may more expensive when new than a 911.

What's more interesting is the cost of a 911 in 1981 was the cost of a large 2/3 bed flat in my locality but would be about £300/350k today .High end cars were certainly a lot less affordable back then

Given who was selling that 959 it was probably an SC with a body kit. wink;);)

Excellent, I wonder how much more the Carrera was list price over the SC when launched?
