Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro vs. McLaren 600LT

For me the biggest triumph is the test Mercedes cost = basic car cost!!!
For that triumph paired with its looks, attainability (not sure you can buy an LT without paying a premium for the privalege, plus the extras) I would have the Merc with my imaginary 200k.
You can’t spec them on any option except colour. Still, a lot of merc for the money. For that triumph paired with its looks, attainability (not sure you can buy an LT without paying a premium for the privalege, plus the extras) I would have the Merc with my imaginary 200k.
I really, really dislike modern Mercedes but I love the GT/GTR/GTR Pro.
Great looking, sounding, going thing.
I really dislike the wheels and general additions to the LT over the 570, the wheels especially are Halford's specials. Strange when the 675LT made the 650S look so awful in comparison and was a genuinely great looking thing. McLaren really need some variety.

If you've just spent £188k on your brand new Mercedes GT R Pro, thinking you've just bought the ultimate GT R, you'd be pretty P***ed off this morning to read that Mercedes are just on testing the GT R Pro Black Series.
Seams a lot of manufacturers, are now following the Lotus book of `How to fool your customers into thinking they've just bought the best car you can produce by announcing the best car you can produce has just been released 3 months after the best car you've produced"
McLaren have been avid readers, and it now looks like Mercedes have bought the same copy.
Every single person who got a pro allocation knows the black is incoming. It’s almost a prerequisite for getting a black allocation anyway. Having tested the merc gt in other flavours I still don’t see how this one removes the fundamental flaw of the car ,it is simply too intimidating to drive on small British roads ,the length of the bonnet and the letterbox view contribute to make bustling one down a B road a quite unpleasant experience .
Sounds like it will be brilliant to track and maybe if you live in the USA would make more sense .

Having owned a GTR for some i can confirm it’s not ‘intimidating’ on small B roads if you can drive. You don’t need to be Senna, but you need to respect the car, it’ll look after you. The view is fine, the bonnet is long but you get use to it. Sounds like it will be brilliant to track and maybe if you live in the USA would make more sense .

+1 As a current owner I agree. Initially they feel ridiculously big and that you are a long way from the front plate but they shrink considerably with familiarity.Smacko said:

Nothing at all patronising in the post ... you appear to own / have owned some large-ish and fast cars so I can't see the point in your comment.
The “if you can drive” comment could be deemed a little patronising.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
