Has anyone had any experience of using a retrofitter in or near Colchester/Essex/Ipswich? I’m considering getting my 2014 1 Series CIC upgraded to an NBT/NBT Evo ID4. If you’ve had this type of work done, I’d find it useful to know what you paid, work quality and whether you think it’s worth spending the money on this or if you had buyer’s remorse and regretted it? Screen, headgear and I drive controller on eBay are roughly £700 😯

You can buy the NBT Evo ID5/6 from sellers on eBay all coded and ready to go for around £900, this is then truly plug and play.
You will also get it coded up correctly and they can add carplay etc. for you.

They are offering at £1000 delivered, but will take £900 as an offer.

That may be easier?

Thanks. The work involved in doing this is currently beyond my technical skills so will look at paying someone to supply and fit.

It arrives ready to go.

It takes no time at all to swap the units over.

I would have a look on the 1 series forum.

Could you post a link to the 1 Series forum, I’ll take a look.

I’m feeling it’s a very expensive mod when I can buy a decent satnav for £200. The retrofit would be more aesthetically pleasing for sure.

I’m also concerned that the coding aspect is going to cause problems when I need a service.

I meant I would ask the question on the babybmw.net forum.

They will tell you far more.

You can always buy an Android unit, swap it out. I did it on my E63 with an Android 9 version for £450. Will add a reverse camera in the summer when its out of storage.

I've been considering the same, bit have heard the sound quality can suffer and I'm not clear on the longevity of the units. How has yours been?
Which one did you go for?

I went for this one as I wanted the latest one running android and 8 core. I had previously android 4.4 which was ok but this one looks alot better, like OEM and sounds decent. Got Waze installed and my iPhone linked up without any issues.
It also keeps the OEM Idrive settings etc. You just hold down Menu and it loads up in the newer system.

Thread resurrection.

I've just searched for DroidUK as I've just put down a deposit on a 2015 F11, but it has the standard small screen. I'm wanting to update to a larger screen with Android Auto/Apple Carplay screen mirroring for Waze etc and came across DroidUK and though I'd search to see if others have used them with success.

Did you go for the DroidUK unit in the end OP?
