The GR uses Emotional Red. There are a few metallic reds in use at Toyota. Emotional red is a bit darker than the rest, doesn't pop and I think is quite sensitive to the other colours on the car. I would stick with black wheels rather than silver (or even white) if changing the wheels. I've ordered red...
It's called 'Scarlet Flare' in the UK. You can see that on the configurator.Okay - in Japan and Australia at least, the red is Emotional red. In the UK at least (maybe Europe?) it's Scarlet flare. The code for emotional red is 3U5 and scarlet flare is 3U4. scarlet flare looks a tiny bit darker than emotional red. The toyota UK site says that scarlet flare is a pearl but other sources I'm finding say it's metallic. Emotional red is a apparently metallic. It's probably not a problem unless you need paint...! Just make sure to get the correct one if you're buying from overseas.....

Not sure if this has been posted before but a good demonstration of the 3 4wd modes around a 180 bend and launching from standstill.

Anyone in Devon, ideally West Devon picking one up soon?
Spoke to local dealer and they said will have a demonstrator in the next month or two. Wanted me to look at a std Yaris to help me make a decision but i said no, it's more of a bespoke car so want to see in flesh as would want it to be a very long term car & daily driver so needs to be right. So, wouldn't mind having a look at someone's, go for a passenger ride.
Really shouldn't be considering buying a new car after buying one last year but finding i hardly use the MX-5 if need to park anywhere as difficult to get in and out of if space restricted. Great car though and may keep but tempted to go for one of these so can move back to having one car only.

Nice comparisonTrack for the launch, sports for fun!
No indeed. Will be interesting to watch tuning companies and more devil may care owners find the limits of the stock platform over the next 12 months.
With regards to press coverage of the car, how soon do we think we'll see anything published?
Will the press have got their hands on a car before the dealer demos arrive? Are they waiting just as we are for them to land along with the press cars? Is there an embargo on the car?

I don't know about you folks but I pretty never launch my cars that hard and I don't plan on starting to do 5K clutch dumps or that sort.

Not surprisingly, HK's laps were less dramatic (i.e. smoother), with less tyre squeal, but yet faster than the other chap, albeit by not much. I think that would be typical of any Formula 1 driver. Not sure what driving modes were used, but the Japanese driver talks about "sports modo", but unsure whether he engaged that mode before setting off.
Seems like HK has been involved in testing the GRY:

There’s a lot of people getting in a twist about exhaust note but that turbo slurp is going to keep me well amused, love it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5pY4Q_5l9w

Don't really care for exhaust note but engine/intake more important for driver enjoyment. I'm sure they'll sound good for the occupants. I had a three pot 1 litre Aygo last year as a courtesy car from Toyota and thought the engine note was cool. That had no power however https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FjWQe0uv0Q
Not sure how I missed this video in my GR trawl of youtube previously (seems the video was uploaded in February) but this guy hoons a pre-production model around. Looks an absolute riot.
