I don't know how anyone manages without having a pick up truck.

Owned this in the US, brought it back to the UK for 15 years then took it back to the US again.

I must be mega chavvy to have kept it for so long. biggrin
Your truck and you would seem to live an interesting life, popping back and forth like that. thumbup

By the way: Have we seen before the yellow creature in the background, there? A Mopar product perhaps?

It's only £60+vat per week for a 3.2 Ranger Wildtrak auto - the bling kits will be minimal over a 12 or 24 month period, as they add resale value (somehow...!)
£57 per month cost to the employee in salary deductions (at 20%)

It's a lot of metal (and plastic and LEDS) on the driveway for not a lot of money.
So, not a lot of money to look like an utter tt in the office car park!

who gives a st what people think? My criteria for a car are:

- do I like it
- can I afford it
- is there one available

and that's it

This has got me looking for cheap pick ups (the last thing I need right now!).

This has come up on Faceboook ads, close to me (Leatherhead Surrey), looks cheap for a Defender pick up £3500

Seller's Description below I have not seen it and have nothing to do with it just in case someone on here is looking...

Land Rover Defender Hi-Capacity

Unfortunately I am unable to do the works needed to get this back on the road, both due to a lack of ability with cars and time because of a new job. It has been a great car, and never missed a beat so it will be sad to see it go but I know it will make an easy project and great car for someone.

Key Points:
- 228k Miles (On the clock)
- Starts first time
- 5 Mud wheels (road legal), 4 road wheels
- V5 Present
- 2.5 Diesel Izuzu Engine
- Very capable off road and huge pick up bed

Bad Points:
- Failed MOT, happy to share the outstanding items from this
- Gear box is whining and will need to be taken apart and cleaned

Thanks

I LOVE pickups. I'm a tradesman but use a van. A pick up would be a pleasure vehicle. I'd also use it for camping and tip runs... Both of which I regularly do so I would use the rear tray.
As some others have said, they need better engines. I don't mind the 60 limit. You would be fine at 70. You don't really want to go any faster in these things anyway.

A nice F150 raptor or GMC Denali Or a Ram would do me just fine
Can't take pickups to our local tips!
I have a waste licence smile

This isn't a new thing. I read almost the same thread on here 10 years ago. Pickups are cool, I really want one but cannot justify it. I'm not a chav.
Same here and I'm a nerd!

Remember the car derived pickups that were all the rage with the MaxPower scene in the 90s?

Bloody loved them... Whole category seemingly disappeared without trace almost overnight.

Now, I'd love an El Camino, or a 50s stepside with modern running gear/suspension. Proper paint job though, not that crap artificially rusted look.

Oh, also have a hankering for a Defender 90 pickup body, not "slammed" but mounted on a spaceframe proper sports chassis. So low, but riding & handling properly with a decent v8 up front.

Someone local to me has a Warrior pick up that they have dropped the suspension and popped small wheels and tyres on it. Very weird but nice to see something different. Looks like a Ute.

Like this but Grey and no bling

I have a 3.0 Nissan Navara Outlaw

Had it since 2014 when I sold my Jag

Got kids
Got bikes
Coach rugby
Was renovating the house

It’s practical and I like it so maybe I am a chav

Noticed a lot of them round MK, especially the Ford Ranger, they must be on cheap lease deals.

And yes 99% of them are driven aggressively. Had one flashing like hell at me once because I slowed down for a big speed bump.

3 people in our office have got them, none of them do any kind of out doors stuff, none of them work in any kind of trade and they struggle to park them in the multi storey.

Well spotted. That's my 69 Plymouth Roadrunner.

I like to think of myself more of a redneck than a chav. But, if the cap fits :-)

They used to be very beneficial for company car tax rules, but I'm talking over 10 years ago where my knowledge is based, I'd be surprised if the government haven't closed a lot of the loop holes, my dad was an accountant so when he was in his mid-late 50's he had a couple as company cars, a Navara and later an L200 as his benefit in kind payments were ridiculously cheap on them compared to a an exec size estate car.

My wife seems to have a liking for them and keeps trying to encourage me to buy one but I'd rather a decent size estate car personally.
