I'd guess most modern double cab pickups are over 2t thumbup

I'll bet there's not many more!
A combination of Auto Gearbox and Ad Blue is usually the end of the weight limit.

looking at the current Ranger Range it would appear that they are all Commercial Speed Limit.

I love them, although they could do with some better engines. The US ones are generally awesome, ours with a miserable 2.0-litre diesel not so much.

I had an L200 warrior years ago. Wasn’t the best thing to drive on the road but was fantastic in snow. Sadly needed more space & swapped into a van.

The new stuff eg raptor etc look great. Most pick ups I see by me are used by trades & driven sensibly.

The American stuff is even better, that mental dodge pick up featured on wheeler dealers a while back would be tempting in rhd.

I LOVE pickups. I'm a tradesman but use a van. A pick up would be a pleasure vehicle. I'd also use it for camping and tip runs... Both of which I regularly do so I would use the rear tray.
As some others have said, they need better engines. I don't mind the 60 limit. You would be fine at 70. You don't really want to go any faster in these things anyway.

A nice F150 raptor or GMC Denali Or a Ram would do me just fine

I've noticed a lot of people with crew cab pickups, you know those enormous American style ones and they usually conform to a certain 'type' that I've noticed.

They seem to be:

mid 40s to mid 50s white male
Carrying a few extra lbs
often balding
Drive aggressively
Insist on doing things like driving into central london in a vehicle that does late teens MPG if they are lucky.

Nothing against that per se, but it is annoying when they cut you up as you can be fairly sure nothing short of a large SUV will come off better in that confrontation.
The vehicles you speak of are most likely LPG converted Raptor or similar, so double the MPG, flat rate import VED and I believe exempt or reduced LEZ type st. Idiots.

I fit your description perfectly except for the aggressive bit or driving into London.

Had to sell my pick up though, 6.7 Cummins powered Ram 2500 - UK pick ups aren't after you've driven an actual one.

I got rid of my pick up 12 months ago, got it to tow the race car trailer and I really miss it.

I did however take my trailer number plate and re arrange it ending up with this, so banged to rights!

Yes, they are definitely the vehicle of choice for the council estate hardman these days.

Funny was just having a chat with my 23 year old sister. She’s doing her test soon and wanted a Raptor as her first car, after a few reality checks shes now got her heart set on a lifted 70’s Chevy C20 or something similar.

Not quite correct, 1860kg is kerbweight, not unladen weight.

Mitsubishi said:
Kerb weight includes an allowance of 75kgs for a driver, the weights of oil, engine coolant, operational fluids, fuel tank filled to 100%, toolkit and spare wheel, as defined by HM Revenue and Customs.
Trouble is HMRC and DVSA play to different rules.

Oh and this is hardly chavtastic, despite being a Warrior

You need what I had. Not enough power to allow you to be a menace and people would smile, laugh and often assume you worked for the council.

It could also carry a huge amount of weight *

  • It couldn't.

idea ...But could it do an 'end-o' if you slammed the brakes on without any load in the back?

Another Somerset boy here and yep, they're everywhere around this neck of the woods.

As soon as you see that tribal logo or some kind of native American design you know that someone who used to crack on off watching Bo and Luke Duke is behind the wheel.

Nope. Engine was in the back of these. You could in my Hijet, though. It even had a bar fitted to stop it going right over!
