This is the early crew cab pick up that could have started it all:

I love a good pickup truck i do, here's my old one, still with my mate up on his farm even now.

Mitsubishi Triton / L200 3.2l Diesel.

I guess they are popular here as easy to run through your company yet are civilised enough to run the family around on teh weekend too negating the cost of a second family car.

You’ll need to swop your upper class field and game chariot for something a lot more urban to qualify!

I have family in Canada, and one of my cousins was regaling me on how another relative has progressed from being a "black on black truck guy" to being a "white on white truck guy". Apparently in British Columbia the former is a standard douche, the latter is the tattooed steroid muncher douche.
(He's a lovely bloke but it's apparently the image conveyed by said truck).

I see a few driven by massive bellends, but that's the same with everything if you look closely enough. Two of my neighbours have Ranger Wildtracks but they're both tradesmen using them for work, one of them actually has 2 with sequential numberplates, but they're always filthy or towing stuff

Amusingly enough, a recent trip around the local car supermarket to look at new cars for my wife, they had an Isuzu D-Max in black-on-black-on-black spec, looked quite aggressive. I said "ooh look, I could get that, but I'd need an armful of tattoos, a vest top and an even bigger beer belly"

Two minutes later we walk back down the row and here "OI! Dazza! Av a look at this, you could av it culdntcha?" from some obese, tattooed woman who was probably only 30 but looked 45. She hadn't even put her cigarette out to get into the car to have a poke about.

I reckon it's the next step for small SUV and crossovers.
Which will need to come with a health warning for the couple of sensitive egos on PH who already get quite irrate about SUVs.
I hope we get this in Europe, perfect for muddy mountain bikes transport (and a plethora of stereotypes) :

meh - I've had a couple of F150 Lighnings and loved them. Yes they are crude but they're fun and quick

I have one over in Thailand, but with the state of many of the roads and the tropical rain, it’s easier to justify. I am in no way a chav, nor do i have tattoos or compete in cage fighting competitions! It’s a great vehicle for the dirt tracks we need to drive on.

I'm on my 2nd L200 Barbarian - 2035kg ULW, 1060kg payload, so very cheap BIK tax.

It's got all the creature comforts of any £35k SUV, it is pretty good off road, fantastic in snow, useful for throwing bikes and garden waste into tha back of it then hosing it down. As till get around 35mpg, over 40 on a long run.

Disadvantages - compared to my previous VW T6 Kombi, it feels small - it's a bigger vehicle overall, but the interior space feels a little pokey, but then I am closer to 7ft than 6ft...
It's also not that practical when it comes to day to day living - two kids in the back, and there's no room for luggage or shopping unless you risk it in the rear bed. Even with a roller top, it's not that weatherproof. It's a PITA to park anywhere except Costco, and it's a big "agricultural" to drive - quite noisy, and wallowy on bends and roundabouts.

Given that I swap my company vehicle every 6 months, it's not a great hardship to put up with for a while. I'd have another if there is nothing else that takes my fancy at the time.

I had dirty thoughts about getting a V6 Amarok the other day...

Then I had even dirtier thought about a Dodge Ram with Cummins diesel engine, just to out do the chavs...

I'll probably stick to my non-descript 4 door saloon, on balance.

Exactly the same colour as ours although we have a Babarian with chav blue lighted kickplates and Barbarian branded seats. Bought it to carry 5 dogs around and a load of dog accessories when doing shows....

I LOVE pickups. I'm a tradesman but use a van. A pick up would be a pleasure vehicle. I'd also use it for camping and tip runs... Both of which I regularly do so I would use the rear tray.
As some others have said, they need better engines. I don't mind the 60 limit. You would be fine at 70. You don't really want to go any faster in these things anyway.

A nice F150 raptor or GMC Denali Or a Ram would do me just fine
Can't take pickups to our local tips!
