Back to the Giulia I really feel that Alfa missed a trick by not producing the coupe that I feel the market would've lapped up.
In the UK they sold 200 cars all up in January 32% down on last year which was again down on the year before, no ones lapping up anything from them over here at the moment, the coupe wouldn't sell either if they can't shift the standard Giulia or Stelvio's which are pretty mainstream cars aimed at the C/3/A4 X3/GLC/Q5 segments the result would be the same against the 4/A5/C class coupe.

I sure hope they have massive markets elsewhere otherwise it doesn't look good.

I would take this Alfa over any of its German competition in a heatbeat, only if I hadn't read Car and Driver's long term review on it...

I didn't think the review was that bad for an early production car that's obviously been driven very hard for the whole 40k miles.

I've never seen any of those complaints on any other reviews or forums I've read (and I've done a lot of research). The only one that other people have had is the water ingress issue, which is now sorted afaik

Fair enough, I'll give it a shot when I can. In fact, if reliability wasn't an issue, this would be my go-to choice along with the Lexus RCF. Those German 'products' just don't work for me. None of them sound good enough, to start with.

Credit to them for continuing to develop an alread pretty mental car even further (even if the coupe models are binned) but you have to wonder what Alfa's product planners are up to - they have a fantastic halo model with this, F1 presence (albeit a bit second hand), some OK-to-pretty-good products in the mainline Giulia and Stelvios but virtually nothing else. I'm pretty worried for Alfa's future - where's the Guilietta replacement? The next Mito? If a 'real' Alfa sportscar isn't an option how about an Abarth 124-based convertible?
Maybe they will follow Machione's line of thought when he said Alfa should not be selling little hatchbacks, this is what Fiat is for. And finally let Alfa focus on being premium. So maybe a Mito replacement isn't coming.

There's also a very good chance Alfa Romeo won't be around as a road car brand in the near future.

With such poor sales and so many new models scrapped recently there's an obvious lack of investment ... Will PSA keep the brand running?

Even if they do, the chance of bespoke chassis / running gear isn't going to happen. Cue a long list of 'new' Alfas that are actually Peugeots in drag.

So long Alfa, and thanks for all the fish.
Why is everybody acting as if PSA bought FCA? It's a 50% partnership. Tavares is staying as CEO of the new company for the first few years. Then most likely John Elkann will take over for another fews years. It's not a take over.

The Elephant in the room for me here is the 2WD & 600bhp. It a bit like the high powered Brabus Merc's, all that power you can't really use on the road. Traction Light city!

Don't get me wrong, love this car, but it wouldn't really be user friendly to me as a result.
Chassis set up is magnificent. Never any trouble putting 510hp down in the dry and the steering feel is all the more alive without AWD. and extra 100hp would suddenly make it unusable.

Back on the car, it's amazing. Best saloon I've ever owned, more reliable than any German, faultless bar a couple to minuscule glitches.

The dealers whowever..... utter fraudulent, corrupt ste. They are the sole reason I won't have another.

100% due to the dealer network. Quality and quantity.

I agree. You can get the same badge for half the price without the V8... you really have to care about the engine to go spend 80 grand on a C class!

I can't help but think if Sergio Marchionne was still alive today, Alfa would've been forced to build a Giulia coupe and estate version

They would've been utterly fabulous. Definite huge own goal by the brand - shame.

I think a coupe would've done well. When it comes to saloons most lack the imagination to look beyond the same old German stuff.

They tend to be more willing when coupes are in the junior supercar league.

I agree. The Merc badge isn't exactly that premium anymore, not now that most of the ones you see are the A Class. Same issue with BMW.

Why would they bring the glory of a quick Nurburgring time back to Turin? Turin is Fiat country. Alfa is from Milan (in Lombardy - hence the L in Alfa!).

I had the 6.2 version, and the engine was a very large part of the reason I bought it.

It was also a good part of the reason that I sold it, as it was quite a heavy lump up front. I really do miss it though.

PSA is the partner with the profitability. FCA was the partner who would likely fail over time if it didn't find a partner.

Guess which one is going to dominate business decisions.
