What a pointless 4x4 - it’s tiny!
They look a decent size in photos. I bet some people have had a bit of a shock when seen in the metal.

+1. We voted for this, inadvertently. There are advantages and disadvantages of Brexit, so we'll just have to suck this one up. Just one example of an unintended consequence.
"We voted for this, inadvertently" is going to be oft repeated in the coming years

Almost like there was no point to this stupid palava in the first place.

I would wonder who's to blame for that though , The engine is not a Suzuki engine and Suzuki don't have a diesal engine in there entire lineup anymore.

They do have a 0.8L turbodiesel in some markets, their own 2-cyl E08A. It only does about 48hp but the SuperCarry uses it in Asia.

I don't really understand this - it is a relatively new model, and the EU regs haven't come suddenly out of the blue! Wasn't this thought about at the design stage, rather than shoving in what sounds like an ancient old n/a engine? I guess it isn't a large market for them.
Similar thing has hit the MX5- they upped the power of the NA 2.0, but as a result had to limit the amount sold. The EU seem to be really serious about the latest round of Co2 regs. Enjoy N/A where you can find it, because the limbo dance seems to be entering the finals where all the easy cuts have already been made.

EU is a relatively small market for Suzuki. India is their most important outside Japan. Ditto MX5 main market is USA. Oddly enough not every car is specifically designed for UK/ EU

There's a huge waiting list for the current Jimny in Australia (18 months in Queensland!), where it is highly regarded.

Suzuki could just allocate cars that were previously destined for UK to other RHD markets.

What a shame, a handy little 4x4 for people that might have actually used it for more than just double parking and cracking pavements outside schools. It's an important car for Suzuki too, being effectively their signature model.

Apparently they may turn it commercial and can then sell to hill farmers etc who need it

Is there really a market for a teeny tiny commercial vehicle with minimal towing capability though? I suspect most people who buy the current version are the same urban cowboys who have made up the bulk of 4x4 ownership since the 80s.

I live in the deepest countryside and even with the floods we've have lately have never needed a daily driver any more off road oriented than a 2wd crossover (for the ground clearance). My Land rover rarely goes anywhere that would test it's off road capabilities.

Whether we are in the EU or not we are still signed up to the same market requirements as regards emissions and safety testing. I can't see that changing, we aren't a big enough market to have our own market specifications.

makes me wonder if a turbo 900cc engine is an option. An electric motor and batteries might not be possible given its size.
That's what I have in my Panda Cross. It does everything I require from it.

Gratuitous photo...... biggrin

Yet still emits 114g/km of CO2 - when they need to get their average down to sub-95. In fact, Fiat/Chrysler, because they don't sell so many massive lumbering SUVs, is only allowed 92g/km.
Its absolutely outrageous that companies who have made the effort over the last few years to get their fleet average down like Fiat/Chrysler are given tougher targets than those that have just ignored the issue and enjoyed the profits to be made churning out ever bigger SUVs

I think the weight allowance in the equation ends in 2021, thats when these regs will really start to bite.
I thought Fiat/Chrysler just bought a load of Tesla credits?

They don't even offer decent colours here, no dark green... just white, silver and black. Why would anyone buy a 4x4 in white?
Errrr for people who will use them properly white is the best colour as scratches from branches (known as pinstripes) are least seen on white paint.

As a result of this many dealers are registered all their new ones and selling them 'used' at 5-6k over list price. Idiots...

I shouldn't think dealers have that many just sat around to do that with.

They don't, which is why they can do it. My local dealer claims to be getting a used press car and will be pricing it at 23k. I also heard sales staff are buying them new and selling/flipping privately through the dealer.

Not something we've seen much, it certainly wouldn't happen at our place. Heads would roll! I'm not saying it doesn't happen though!

RS Clio has been gone for a while now, last ones registered were on 68 plates IIRC.

This sort of thing used to happen with manufacturer head office staff buying cars on employee discount and flipping them.

Understandably, HMRC took a dim view of this, and any 'privileged purchases' (i.e. something not available to Joe Public) have to be held for a minimum of 12 months at most places now.

Such a cool looking car. They should find a cleaner engine for it. Buy one off Fiat.
