I’m sorry but I’d love to see a lot of you justify going in excess of 30 and a minimum of 30 in a court of law! It’s a limit for a bloody reason. Jeeez how daft are some of you. If My cars cold and I want to go below the speed limit- I will continue to do so, if I slow down for a speed bump or pot hole, guess what?- I will do. Not F’ing my car up for some idiot in a shed who has ants in his pants, if people can’t see my point, you really need to ‘consider other road users’
Did I say I would be going over 30 in a 30 limit? No.

If your car can't do 30 when it is cold it's a liability FFS!

You probably need to get something more suited to 21st Century driving.

If I take my Z4MC out for a run I really don't want to get stuck behind a poxy Golf that can't handle speed-bumps or pot-holes! banghead

I don’t think I’m coming across as aggressive at all. You said it yourself mate, ‘consider other road users’ so why is it people aren’t considering my actions when I travel in accordance with the speed limit for a given road. I’m sorry but I’d love to see a lot of you justify going in excess of 30 and a minimum of 30 in a court of law! It’s a limit for a bloody reason. Jeeez how daft are some of you. You are still coming across as angry , ranty, sweary. Can't you see it?

I find the latest stars of the tailgating world are no longer aggressive Audi driving blokes, but are young birds in entry level 1 Series/A class hatches.

I can tell you WHY they do it

Learner plates = keep distance
Newly passed = keep distance
6 months post test = get a little closer - nothing happens
1 year post test = get closer - nothing happens
Year after year get even closer = nothing happens

For most drivers nothing will happen but for the others ……. BANG!!

I‘m never tailgated.

I also don’t tailgate.

Maybe it’s because I tend to use speed limits only as a kind of rough guide. I like cornering fairly hard too. In general I find most drivers reasonably courteous and attentive. I don’t find driving particularly stressful either. Interesting/scary moments are very, very rare.

We all get justifiably annoyed at people going unnecessarily slowly. But in what universe does tailgating help the situation?

I’m fortunate to have access to a number of different cars with different performance capability. It’s amazes me how other people’s behaviour changes depending on what car I’m in. They are the most courteous drivers when I’m in the Bentley and no one wants to race me but in the Cooper S it’s open warefare.

how excessively stretched and slack is the anal sphincter of a PH’er whose arse can accommodate an entire car?

If he means ‘driving too close’ then yes, there is a problem with road users not leaving sufficient stopping distance.

If he actually means that his bottom is so capacious that a family hatchback can drive up his arse (and presumably parallel park somewhere in the lower intestine?) then serious questions need to be asked of the NHS and how they missed this very obvious condition.

Pie keys and idiots butcher the language.
PH’ers should know better.

"Anal sphincter". As opposed to the other kind?

It's odd . This just doesn't happen to me. TVR makes no odds, I don't get any bother. I do remember someone tried to race my in one of my Westfield's off the lights, but that's about it. Maybe it's being in Somerset. Didn't get any grief on the 911 either.

I reckon I get treated worse in the yeti as people prob assume I'm an old duffer. I certainly get cut up by rangies now, whereas I never did in the D3. Guess it's a size thing! (And I don't dawdle in the yeti, far from it)

There are times when people have a boot full of delicate items that they don't want damaged.

Or frail/ill/travel-sick people in the car who don't want to be tossed about like a rag doll.

Or they might be looking for an address or a side road in an unfamiliar area.

And some cars, especially small ones with cheap/narrow/eco-biased tyres, handle very unpredictably.
Even the Conti Eco Contacts that were OEM on my Viva were dangerous in the cold and wet so I had to drive it gently or it would slip and slide all over the place. It now has Michelin Cross Climate and is much more sure-footed and confidence inspiring.

Specifically anal, because cars drive up his arse. The other kinds near no relevance here..

It’s the 45mph specialists that are most annoying.
Driving slightly above 30mph indicated in 30 zone- right on tail. Into 40 zone so driving at 44 indicated and car still there. Get to nsl and leave them for dust only for them to catch up in the next 30 zone. I can only guess they are utterly brain dead and the act of driving is a mere nervous response before they veer off into a ditch and do us all a favour. This is usually a woman.

The tailgating male on the other hand tends to overtake as I slow for the 30 so he enters a 30 zone at 50 + and continues through at that speed...

I actually give up! Clearly the majority think I’m in the wrong and it’s perfectly fine to drive up to someone’s rear bumper, flash them and even horn. I’d like to hear what each parties insurer thinks of that and what a court of law would have to say! Anyway I’m done, I will continue to drive As I please, it’s my car and I pay the bills for it so basically everyone’s negativity is totally irrelevant to me, ciao

Another strange behaviour I ve noticed over the years....

If you accelerate quickly away from someone that person may then charge up behind you.

I had an example yesterday on the way home.

Golf behind not following particularly close. I’m having a vibration at around 2.4k revs that I’m trying to track down so accelerate quickly from around 10 mph to the posted 40 limit in 2nd gear.

Check mirror and here’s the golf blasting up behind to catch me up and hard on the brakes 2 inches from my rear.

Why ?

What’s their thought process ?

I tend to obey limits. Secondly I often have the dog in the back, and he really doesn't appreciate being flung around with cornering on the door handles. Therefore when he's aboard I go steadily, or at least what I consider steadily.

Yet yesterday evening was typical. Through a 30 limit a BMW X5 was nearly welded to my back bumper, 30 limit, sticking to it though the digital roadside display showed 32.

Left the 30 limit onto an NSL single carriageway with varying gradients and bends, so clear candidate for steady, for me, progress to avoid a pukey dog. BMW disappears backwards in the mirror. Not unwelcome though due to the high mounted retina burning lights on it.

Come to a village with a 30 limit for a mile and a half, yep BMW soon welding itself to rear bumper. Thought not got far to go beyond the 30, perhaps let him past, get rid of those lights. So pull into bus stop layby. BMW disappears off into the night.

Just over half a mile beyond the end of the limit, now he/she is holding me up despite my very dog friendly pace.

FFS. Utter cretins.

Just ignore them, it's the usual PH way - these sad little men direct huge amounts of anger at anyone who doesn't act in exactly the way they do, showing zero consideration or tolerance to anyone else, throwing around claims ranging from you being slightly rude up to you should lose your license or have your car crushed.

In their sad little minds doing 25 in a 30 is a capital offence, and the correct response is to tailgate, lean on the horn, shout and swear, and overtake as fast as possible no matter the situation or location.

Just look at any dashcam video - IMHO most of the self-righteous dashcammers are actually PH regulars, hurling anger around for every minor transgression (real or imagined) and hurling their toys from the pram when they don't get their own way.
