I actually give up! Clearly the majority think I’m in the wrong and it’s perfectly fine to drive up to someone’s rear bumper, flash them and even horn. I’d like to hear what each parties insurer thinks of that and what a court of law would have to say! Anyway I’m done, I will continue to drive As I please, it’s my car and I pay the bills for it so basically everyone’s negativity is totally irrelevant to me, ciao
That's not what people are saying.

Your behaviour as described by you is odd.

I tend to obey limits. Secondly I often have the dog in the back, and he really doesn't appreciate being flung around with cornering on the door handles. Therefore when he's aboard I go steadily, or at least what I consider steadily.

Yet yesterday evening was typical. Through a 30 limit a BMW X5 was nearly welded to my back bumper, 30 limit, sticking to it though the digital roadside display showed 32.

Left the 30 limit onto an NSL single carriageway with varying gradients and bends, so clear candidate for steady, for me, progress to avoid a pukey dog. BMW disappears backwards in the mirror. Not unwelcome though due to the high mounted retina burning lights on it.

Come to a village with a 30 limit for a mile and a half, yep BMW soon welding itself to rear bumper. Thought not got far to go beyond the 30, perhaps let him past, get rid of those lights. So pull into bus stop layby. BMW disappears off into the night.

Just over half a mile beyond the end of the limit, now he/she is holding me up despite my very dog friendly pace.

FFS. Utter cretins.
It is indicative of a lack of thought. Habits formed early on and possibly innately - follow whatever is in front very closely - stick unless prompted by conscious thought to do otherwise and practice to reinforce it.

At human walking pace, fairly close tailgating is fine. Driving involves speeds much higher than walking pace, but many people do not take that into account.

There are people that drive slowly to invoke a reaction from others. I've never had someone beep horn at me, I've done it to someone who was fanning around at a roundabout who then threw a hugh strop, I just went round him which upset him further.

Op are you a millennial per chance as they seem to be the most offended driver on the roads.

It's not just 'performance cars'. It's all cars. British people drive aggressively, tailgate a lot
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah,,,.

Thanks, I needed a good laugh.

You need to drive in somewhere like Australia to learn what tailgating really is. British people in general leave a decent gap.

I dislike people who go slowly in the right hand lanes, if a driver feels the need to go slowly, stay left. What really really annoys me are the people who are overtaking at 0.00000000000000000000000000000000001 MPH difference. If you want to pass someone, pass, if not get out of the right hand lane. People need to be taught to treat the right hand lane like a pub lavatory, go in, do your business and get out, you don't hang around for the ambiance.

That being said, I think bad behaviour is more prevalent during peak hours, not sure if this is correlation or causation, but since I started driving down the M4 at 5am to get to work people are generally a lot better behaved. Probably 4 times out of 5 people will move left as they notice my approach (I do not tailgate, BTW) and allow me to pass. That fifth person is usually a Land/Range Rover overtaking at the speed of smell.

I also need to point out that it is emphatically _not_ illegal to undertake. Yep, the tired old argument that the rozzers could ticket you for driving without due care... blah, blah blah, in reality they ticket the middle lane hogs if they're going to ticket anyone.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/12/31/driver...

However we shouldn't be undertaking because if you have room to undertake me, I had room to move left (which is something I would do). Keeping left is just common courtesy, sadly that is not as common as the name suggests.

As I alluded to above, by and large British drivers are well behaved, so much so that the bad behaviour sticks out. A lot of what I and others are complaining about in this thread is considered normal for Australian roads.

Fixed that for you. It's not so-called "millenials" that are offended... it's the people whinging about them.

Had it just earlier in a 30 limit.

Woman in a 2010 Corsa with young kid in the front. Right up my arse (I was doing an indicated 32)

Then at every set of lights she would instantly pick up her phone, I’d pull away from the lights and she’d have to stop looking at her phone so was slightly delayed pulling away. Then she’d race up behind me until the next stop where the phone came out again.

tt!

Wow, most of you sound like the sort of people that get angry at each other with a short fuse. If you would all relax a bit you would get to your destination a little less stressed.

[quote=chan61922]. To the user who think a 335d stands any chance, have a day off mate, the diesel will throw mountains of torque and then run out of puff Lol I trouble 140s and m4s how’s your diesel doing anything!

Using some numbers picked off the internet;

A stage 2 remapped Golf R will have around 400bhp and weighs in at 1525kg so has a power to weight ratio of 262bhp per tonne.

A stage 2 remapped e90 335d will have around 370bhp and weighs in at 1570kg so has a power to weight ratio of 236bhp per tonne.

Both cars have a limited top speed of 155mph or an unlimited top speed of just under 170mph according to some quick googling so I fail to see how the Golfs 30bhp p/w ratio advantage is going to make it hugely faster. Yes, the diesel car will start to run out of steam above 4k rpm but will have taller gearing to allow for that. As for troubling M4's and 140i's a standard Golf R should be able to do that so it doesn't surprise me that a stage 2 tuned car can do it.

White vans are one of the trickiest, will I overtake..will they chase me and assault me.. will they put on high beams...

Probably all of the above. The plus side is that it's easy to lose them and let them annoy the next driver

There are 5 types of drivers - give or take

1. Drivers who are useless and haven't a clue, with no driving skill whatsoever, usually causing tailbacks or hesitant at all junctions or roundabouts, hands glued to the steering wheel.

2. Drivers who probably the most guilty, ones gleefully driving below the NSL or reluctant to overtake anyone - but some of which get all twitchy when overtaken... How dare you overtake me!! Many of which are posters in here who think they are god

3. Drivers who just drive onto the NSL promptly and don't dwaddle about and overtake slow drivers when they can

4. Drivers who drive like a bat out of hell all the time, probably with a few bans along the way

5. White Vans

It seems quite simple. You control the area in front of your car, the driver behind controls how close he or she feels is appropriate. If you feel someone is too close, just slow a little. If they continue, pull over or go one extra revolution of a roundabout.

Life really is too short.

Surprised this threads still going lol only popped in to comment on the post above about a old e90 335d troubling a stage 2 golf R. What planet are you on? I get to 60 in a little over 3 seconds, I have a petrol engine which I’m able to rev a lot more then some old diesel barge lol I have 4WD which just grips onto the road as if it’s on rails. Pointless even going over then this, my last car was a e93 m3 (aka the daddy of the range) so what some crappy ancient 335 diesel Has on it I will never know. They cost 4/5k for a reason mate lol Without a doubt the golf R is quicker then my previous car.

how excessively stretched and slack is the anal sphincter of a PH’er whose arse can accommodate an entire car?

If he means ‘driving too close’ then yes, there is a problem with road users not leaving sufficient stopping distance.

If he actually means that his bottom is so capacious that a family hatchback can drive up his arse (and presumably parallel park somewhere in the lower intestine?) then serious questions need to be asked of the NHS and how they missed this very obvious condition.

Pie keys and idiots butcher the language.
PH’ers should know better.
Matchbox car will fit up there, ask Johnny Knoxville. He had to have it surgically removed.

Just coming back to the 3000rpm and 550 what-nots at that spead - the peak torque/BHP output figures of an engine and max stresses on turbos only apply if at full throttle and maximum fuelling, if you are on a light throttle you'll be producing a fraction of the peaks so it doesn't really matter what the revs are... In fact, taking it to extremes, if you back off at 3000rpm you'll effectively be producing zero torque.

Just drive with a light foot until all is warmed up. smile

As always on here people twist and turn the story! My cars Make and model is not relevant, as always people get nosey and start reading up a users previous post, anyone with a brain won’t drive there car hard when the weathers minus 1 outside. My cars dsg and as tuned it hangs on to gears for longer (my preference) so no I can’t select shifting points at 2000 revs unless I use the paddle sts which would be even more daft in a cold car. Besides that I’m not going 30 over a huge pot hole or speed bump just because the speed limit says so. Couldn’t give a monkeys what the limit is or what half of you think. People feel no way about throwing a transit over a speed bump so throw there toys at the Pram when everyone else don’t. Truth is anything with half decent go about it, people are tw@ts and want to bum the life out of you, suppose my cocky number plate adds to this too. Just can’t win with some people, if I hoof it and drive like a asbo I’m a tw@t and if I go too slow people will moan too. To the user who think a 335d stands any chance, have a day off mate, the diesel will throw mountains of torque and then run out of puff Lol I trouble 140s and m4s how’s your diesel doing anything! My last car was a m3 and I can tell you that car had nothing on the way this car pulls now. I drove that soft when it was cold too, hot the same bellends coming up behind my Arse in that too. It’s just jealous pricks, had I been in a little corsa I would just be overtaken- facts!
Consider yourselves told. I think.

Sadly not mate, the torque comes in early, max bhp comes at the end when going 7000odd revs. My peak torque comes in early on and stays constant then takes a dip down way up the rev range when the full bhp comes in
