£95k for a Cayman?????? I don't care how good it is - that price is INSANE!
Its £75k.This one has a load of options fitted.
A modest Golf is 30k. A decent mid-size SUV is 50. That's just what stuff costs.

Yes. £60k for a Renault is a bit much though !
You called the Alpine a Renault on another thread, all it did was make you look like you don't understand cars. Now you are doing it again on this thread.

If you’re more bothered about the badge than the car, you probably have some serious self-esteem issues.
If anyone judged me for driving a “Renault”, I’d ignore them. Their views are irrelevant to me. I decide what I drive, not them.
The Alpine A110 is generally recognised to be a better drive than the (basic or S) 718 Cayman. To my eyes, it’s more attractive too.
Badge? Irrelevant. Car? Everything.
(I’d still love that R8 though. The engine....)

A good test and a seriously enjoyable read.
Again, the weakness of the Alpine is highlighted as the gearbox. An auto may be fine for pootling to the shops, but when tackling these driving roads, for fun, then Renault really need to do one with a decent manual box.
The GT4 is already a legend - would love to see a test of one tested as close to list price as possible - ie, a stripper, nothing on it.
As for the R8, that's a supercar. I'm not surprised it's the best. Still amazed to think Audi build these.
Great article.

Phew, glad to finally see the Alpine not winning something as I thought I was going mad
Don’t get me wrong, great car and fab handling but didn’t get on with mine - the engine/gearbox combo just didn’t work for me - I know the guys who bought it off me though is loving it and giving it some proper mileage, but even he has tweaked the suspension etc
That said, I sold my (981) GT4 too and kept my 9 year old Spyder that it was meant to replace so what do I know...

”aided by tightly stacked ratios that expose the Porsche's needlessly long ones; the brakes rival the GT4's for feel and the steering does as well;”
Alpine manages without carbon brakes and without 20k of extras.
If you want a real track car get some KW coil overs fitted to an Alpine. There are some good videos of a KW equipped 110 vs a GT4 on that German circuit.

I like the Alpine, I just think it would be a better sports car with a proper gearbox.
Or any other engine than a wheezy little 1.8T...Porsche have utterly destroyed them now with their new GTS, which is currently manual only just to rub salt into the wound...
Like the R8 though, awesome engine.
