I didn't know the Alpine base A110 was this quick! Granted it has KW coilovers on it for track use but look how well it darts in and out of corners and simply pulls away from the Cayman GT4! Wow!

it looks indeed fast, but that gt4 looks lazy?
I saw here that a a110 did the ring in 8.03 and the old gt4 in 7.42

It’s all a bit meaningless on the Ring unless it’s the same driver on the same day.

It's more to reference how nimble the A110 looked in the video and how well it pulled away on the straights despite the GT4 revving it out to redline in the beginning of the video.

It would be good to see a lap time of the KW-equipped A110 as the standard car is set up for the road.

I love manual gearboxes(really enjoy using them) and I much prefer them to an auto/DCT...but I can see why DCT's have become very popular when you want out and out performance on a track for sure. That video demonstrates it well and the driver of the GT4 looks like he is throwing a bus around, and the manual gearbox makes it look so slow and cumbersome for me.

The GT4 driver looks to be consistently turning in too early for the bends - the Alpine is consistently taking a later apex and looks much tidier as a result.
I wouldn't read too much into Nordschleife lap times either. Those manufacturers who want bragging rights hire the whole track, have the best drivers and so on. Not to mention the fact that the times are set with much stickier tyres than the Alpine uses - and there is no independent policing of the spec of the car.....

Ah, I was wondering why the Alpines time was so slow.

I think this show’s how the lightweight Alpine can be driven aggressively, and noticed how quickly it turns. https://youtu.be/IUlN4_8ux1w

Film footage is very good, I wonder if the Ring have their own media company? If so, I bet it didn’t come cheap.

The chap in the GT4 seems to be taking some of the turns in 3rd or 4th which explains why it looks so lethargic. 3rd gear takes you all the way to about 115 and it doesn't look like he's hitting those sort of speeds on the exits.

here the Hockenheim GP lap times, a110 vs gt4 new and 981 the new and a110 driven by same driver, also there pretty big difference.

the new gt4 place 78
the 981 gt4 place 92
the a110 mk2 place 115

but still not bad, I guess the a110 s version will be even better

On the basis the A110 is on standard suspension and tyres I think that’s an acceptable result for the circuit.

Absolutely no point in comparison with the GT4 without more sticky rubber. The S is only a bit more track oriented and still uses PS4 rubber. Put a Manthey set up and things would be much closer as the video above suggests. There is clearly room for a A110R and it wouldn't surprise me if Alpine brought one out - otherwise it will aftermarket kits that turn the Alpine into a genuinely track oriented car.

You need the same day, same driver and the cars need to be factory standard.
