Picked myself up an Audi S8 Plus this time last month and it's an absolute monster! 23k on the clock, just over 2 years old.
Lived with the 4.2 V8 diesel (same model, D4) for almost 6 years and managed to enjoy about 82k miles in it. Bought it at 42k and travelled all over Europe etc etc.

It's been all change recently. Before Christmas I inherited (from my partner's father) a Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP:
Having recently driven its Polo equivalent as a hire car I was expecting to be underwhelmed and probably look to sell or trade it in with so little on paper power/performance. However, after seeing it and driving it for a while I have been really impressed. It doesn't have a lot of go, but is more than capable of keeping up with traffic. It's 3 cylinder engine is quite characterful and likes to rev, it sits on the motorway in reasonable comfort, handles well in a tall tyred boxy kind of way and has a decent spec with all I could ask for. It needed a service and MOT after being laid up for a couple of years and a few parts replacing but once done was a good runner, so I decided to keep it, and sold my old Mitsubishi Colt
This done I came to the conclusion it was time to sell my Alfa and get something a little more grown up.Which leads me to:
Nissan 370Z GT (Auto: the horror!).
This is the only time I have seen it in sunshine and possibly full daylight. I just realised I have only driven it in torrential storms - I first test drove it in Storm Ciara then picked it up/drove home in Storm Dennis. Not ideal I suppose, but I can tell you that it is very resistant to strong crosswinds, doesn't suffer from aquaplaning and the brakes and steering are excellent when needing to swerve to avoid trees and other debris. It also drives nicely on the motorway on cruise control and indicated a pleasant 36mpg (I know...) on the trip home. I suspect I am doing this wrong. I am looking forward to the arrival of Storm Ellen when I will once more be able to hit the open/closed road!

Sold the Mustang last year and convinced myself that I didn't need more than 2 cars in the household
Then man maths / car fever took over and I bought the MX5 followed by the Alfa so 3 cars became 2 then 3 then 4!
Why - always regretted selling the 2 previous MX5s. Ref the Alfa always loved the looks but believed the motoring press that it was an awful car, it really isn't

Have been hankering after an M car for a very long time. Started looking for an M4 Heritage ... which turned out to be close to RRP and in short supply ... and ended up changing my 435d for this! Interesting story as was a used car with 400 miles, 5 weeks old.
Turns out someone had specced it as a gift for his wife, but she wanted 4 doors ... so he returned and changed it ... for a new M5 Competition. Upshot was a car the dealer didn’t really want, thought it had sold already and wasn’t sure what to do with. It ended up on its website nearly £30k under list, making it an absolute steal. Perfect spec, with Silverstone nappa and a few toys.
Only problem is, if any car ever needed 4WD, then this is it! Lovely colour, though ...

Picked this demon creature from the underworld up from the floodplains of West Yorkshire on Friday with Mrs Badger. We stayed overnight in a cosy little hotel the Friday night and, it being valentines day, booked in for dinner at a lovely little Bistro in a nearby village. Headed back to Kent on Saturday after a soggy drive across the Yorkshire moors, unfortunately didn't see any werewolves, and splashed home later after a stop off at a tea shop for lunch .
Just put a deposit down on this...
... a new i30 N Line in Intense Blue as a replacement for MrsPB’s Mk6 Golf GTI.
Just about the same performance as the Golf for the price of a 5-y-o Golf and a ride that has been fettled locally. No, the cabin doesn’t have the same soft touches everywhere, and the engine sounds a bit meh after the Golf’s fart but it drives well, has a great 6-sp manual, and it’ll be something different. I’m also expecting it to cost about 50% less to insure and service.
I think the Aus-spec is different to UK spec before anyone comments - 1.6T with 150kW/200bhp, and Michelin PS4 all round.
N Performance is about 40% more money, which I ain’t got and even the cheapest used ones are still about $8k more than I’ve paid.

Very nice. Very jealous. Genuine question - how do people fund lavish cars? Is there a secret “successful person” method? Is it typically through being a business owner and tax deductible cleverness or is it purely hard work and pay the price for nice things? What I’m getting at is could an average Joe ever aspire to own a super car or do you really need to own a business and make your fortune that way rather than becoming a senior exec of a blue chip and having to actually shell out 100k or whatever
