I'm sure that Bentayga drivers the world over will be touched by your unnecessary, and slightly over-zealous, defence of them.
Here we go again. Applying your own binary / polarised thinking to other people, talk of projecting. It's entirely possible to not like a car while not making value judgement on the entire demographics of people who do. But *you* can't achieve that.

You still haven't told us who you were to decide what is necessary or not, what is large or not, on behalf of others.

MC Bodge is obviously our current PM, Dominic Cummings, AICMFP.

There appears to be some projection of people's own thoughts onto other people going on.
You dont say wink

The only "outrage" is your own, dripping in jealousy .

I don't even suggest that others shouldn't be allowed to.
Lol. You stopped pretty close to it wink

It could be argued that too much "comfort" is a bad thing for the physical state of people in the UK in the 21st century.

It’s just inverted snobbery/envy dressed up to look like social conscience isn’t it?

Nobody gives a hoot what you deem meager ‘enough’ to use yourself in much the same way that nobody (except you and the OP) seems to care if someone else buys a Bentley or something else.

It's interesting that a few of you appear to think that jealousy is involved.

"Jealous: feeling or showing an envious resentment of someone or their achievements, possessions, or perceived advantages."

I often cycle to work. I can afford to drive. I could afford to lease a far more expensive car than I have. I choose not to.

As for the" green movement", why would that be based on jealousy?

You haven't said why you think a Bentayga is pointless or OTT though.... Other than the fact it has a 6 litre engine. You haven't said why that's pointless, and you haven't defined a point at which pointless becomes "pointful" so to speak. Because you think it's OTT, can you agree that it's still absolutely fine for someone else to drive it?

Been an interesting old discussion this....

As things stand there are only 12 years left before you wont be able to rock up at your UK Bentley dealership and buy / finance a fossil fuel car.

Is it silly driving a car around that does such poor MPG? Yeah, I'd say so given how dire the environmental crisis we're in is.

Are they entitled to drive that car anyway? Yeah absolutely.

Are there far worse polluters that we should be worried about first before we start worrying ourselves over a 12mpg car? Definitely.

A lot of hypocrisy in this world. People get upset about poor MPG cars but then go and race around in a sports car at the weekends. Or eat lots of food flown in from around the world. Or have 3+ children (which as I understand things is, adding to the population beyond yourselves is by far and away the biggest contribution you can make to damaging the environment).

This thread is nuts, I can’t believe on a car forum we are arguing over the quality of car one can have.
We have limited oil left before we all sound like scalextric racers so why not enjoy a W12 or a V8.
I was in a diesel rangey and it reminded me of my old transit van aurally.

There is no point in having a Bentley Bentayga in London. This is the whole point of having one in London

I find the big Bentley repugnant. But I can appreciate others don't. What a strange thread. Guy probably bought it because he wanted one. And I can think of no better reason to buy a car. Good luck to him/her. My only observation would be if I could afford 180k for a car I would not drive in London, I would be driven!!

I know this sounds a bit 'PH', but a 180k car doesn't necessarily mean you can afford (or want) a driver.

Maybe he means in a taxi. £180k would buy a lot of taxi journeys.

I think the Bentley is great. I would love one to use as a daily on London - can't think of anything better. Well, maybe a Cullinan.

You're not paying £180,000 though, really. Unless you keep the car forever, you are paying for its depreciation and and running costs.

If you are less rightward leaning than Nick Griffin, have more compassion than Trump, consider the sustainability of the environment or don't have the ethics of Gordon Gecko there is no place for you on PH.
