Webuyanycar - next day payment fail
Discussion
Sold a car recently and got a better offer from "We Want Any Car" so I thought I'd give them a go.
Nice thing is they come to you. Gave me a price that I was more than happy with and then did all the paperwork. Bloke wouldn't accept the keys from me until the payment had come through into my account. A Saturday as well.
He went outside and sat in his car for half an hour. Once he'd been informed I'd been paid and I could see the money in my account only then did he ask for the keys. He disappeared and half an hour later a driver turned up to take it away.
Worked for me.
Yes we went through a bit of the ooohs and ahhs and the final offer wasn't what they'd quoted but I expected that and the price they did pay was what I'd thought it would be in the end anyway.

^ That's the better way of doing it, money in your account before the car goes.
I've got no car and no money in account. Ages to reply to msgs on facebook, no phone number to their head office and to top it off they've closed the online chat midway through me asking questions.
How long does it take to fking take a photo of the chassis number and email it to head office and press a few buttons to clear the funds?

I sold my RRS to them for over book price. Tiny bit of negotiation but I found them completely fair, upfront and reasonable. Only used them to check the trade-in offer from my dealer and it was £3.5k better. The used car buyer from the dealer group said it was a good offer and that they were a fair outfit so that’s where the car went.

Not helpful I know but I don't know why anyone uses these clowns. The Internet is full of bad stuff about them.
It’s equally full of good stuff too, if you cared to look. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Also just sold a bike via some "webuyyourbike" type place... they sent someone round the house to pick the bike up, and I had my money in my bank before I could fill in the DVLA V5 new owner link.
This is turning into an epic fkUP.
Manager from the local branch emailed me and said admin are requesting a photo of the chassis number and won't release funds until they receive that. All well and good but the car has already left their branch to fk knows where so fk knows how long this will take.
If no update by mid tomorrow I'm off to the branch in person which might get interesting as I can't be dealing with this st right now.

That is shocking! As much as I usually wouldn't condone this kind of thing, I think getting on Twitter and making a bit of noise on their page may help.Manager from the local branch emailed me and said admin are requesting a photo of the chassis number and won't release funds until they receive that. Had similar with the Evans Halshaw version. All nicely done in the dealership "money will be in your account in 2-3 days". One week later - chase it up, much confusion their end - get asked for proof that my (late) wife sold it to me (lost v5, applied for new one in my name as I'm executor). Idiots, they already knew that. Sorted in the end as I dug out the 7 year old original sale invoice to her from VW dealer, no idea where the car was by then or what would have happened if I hadn't had that.
Seems ok for run of the mill stuff but anything out of the ordinary phases them.

So they have stolen your car. I would be letting them know this and if not resolved will be reporting to action fraud Manager from the local branch emailed me and said admin are requesting a photo of the chassis number and won't release funds until they receive that. Advertised my car on eBay with every single defect listed, sold within 3 days and for £900 more than WBAC quoted but I'm sure that quote would have been heavily knocked down if I had of taken the car to them. The buyer transferred the money to me with BACS on the day and it was instantly in my account.

WBAC will not get you the highest price in all scenarios
But if your car matches their requirements then you'll generally get a competitive price!

I used said clowns in 2009 to sell my Passat Estate - it was an SE in reasonable condition, the guy wanted half it's value, initially, then tried to take even more off after the "inspection", but I stuck to my guns for the first (desultory) price. I find it easier to flip cars like Archie Hamilton and accept there may be some depreciation over the period you're leasing it. I made sure the guy was at the chip and pin machine and put the money in, and let the banks do the rest. This "VIN check" thing seems very dodgy to me, and an excuse to sit on the seller's money. But these are the Cash Converters of the car world, so should be expected

Thanks for everyone's help with this.
Threatening to report the vehicle stolen to police and taking to twitter and facebook sorted them out and payment has been received.
Never again lol
Wow, you've still not been paid?Threatening to report the vehicle stolen to police and taking to twitter and facebook sorted them out and payment has been received.

That's bad.
Have you spoken to someone at head office?
I'd be starting to think the chap you dealt with on the day has left the company or something.
