We get that you live in Essex, but there is no need to call it the Essex Badlands in every single one of your posts.
I'm sure he us only referring to Canvey Island; the rest of the county is lovely.

I’m pretty tempted to tint the windows of my xc90, I prefer the look of it without but I’m often up to no good so it would be useful 🤔

I have them on my e-golf as it keeps the interior cooler so the A/C doesn’t have to work as hard. It actually adds several miles of range. Also great for the kids in the back. Although where we live it’s not illegal to tint the front windows either, but no more than 35% so you can get a consistent look to the vehicle.

On my A8 I don’t have tints, but instead find I leave the rear and side sunshades up instead, again for the kids.

My TVR doesn’t have tints, but then I take the roof off in the sun, so its pointless.

Tinted rear windows are nice, more privacy, reduce glare from vehicles behind at night. Good idea.

It depends on the car for me, Our Black Mk5 R32 has lovely blue tinted windows from the factory but the previous owner tinted the rear most windows and to my eyes it looks awful. Mrs MRT likes them and as it’s “her” car they are still there. I’d have them out in a heartbeat

“My” Mk6 GTI, which is red has factory tints, they don’t bother me in the slightest.

Last M3 came with rear tints, an E46 and they were removed my previous E90 didn’t have them and I preferred the car without them

Going by that it appears I’m not that big a fan of dark tinted glass

I’m more surprised at the strength of feeling that tinted glass creates amongst people on here and some of the daft stereotypes being banded around.

I’ve only ever had factory tints which don’t tend to be all that dark if I’m honest, certainly not enough to impact upon my visibility out of the car.

I agree, it depends on the car - here's my '68 Cooper S with the Shadolite tinted glass out of a mate's '68 Cooper, in the flesh it has a nice bronzey brown tinge to it, the rear screen is going in next, I've got the full set including the four sliding side window pieces and a slightly tinted front screen... from the inside looking out it's not that dark at all....

This Mk3 Cooper S had the Shadolite fitted when it was new at John Sprinzel's Mews garage in Kensington...

This reminds me of my first second hand mini i bought in the mid seventies , all the windows were nice and clear ,but it was cool to have tinted windows of the colour you described ,so you could buy spray on tints straight out the tin, needless to say it wasn't successful and spent a good few days trying to get it off, It was the first of many minis i have had, i did eventually get a nice 1275 GT with then factory done, happy days,

What's this thing with 'privacy', you're seen when you get in and out of the car. As for dogs and children, both will survive both dogs and little snowflakes.
Few cars in the rest of Europe have dark glass, it's a UK fashion thing, a lemming thing.
Making your car look like a van is not 'cool' it's purely sinkhole council.
Its a Nerdy, goofy, beardy, jesus boot wearing Timothy option..

Can you confirm if you do or don't like tints, as the above isn't clear?

Yes. Mine used to absolutely love wearing sunglasses. More of a problem getting them to take them off. cool

De rigueur fashion accessory among the Cockney Wnakers, cage fighters and celebrity worshiping TOWIE wannabees here in the Essex Badlands.

That alone is reason enough to dislike tints, particularly when both number plates have accidentally had a triple layer applied from the leftovers too. rolleyes

I absolutely hate them. Makes cars look like vans.
Good job you don't work for us.
Our engineers can have a small van or estate car. The estates all have retro-fitted blacked out privacy glass. That way no-one sees (then steals) the expense tools they leave kicking about the back.
Style wise it's not a good look but when function is the be-all and end-all you just can't argue.

Haha, you seem very upset about it?

Do I recognise that username? Is it a numberplate? Seen around Norwich?

I like it.
Have it on my car but it’s starting to delaminate in a few spots so will need to get them redone.

Done by a previous owner and I’ve had the car 7 years.

I've got tints for the 1st time on my current car. It's great. They are a light smoke, can't remember the % but fairly dark on the rear (3 series coupe). Doesn't really affect visibilty. At night, most vehicles have these wonderful illuminated objects on the front which helps you keep tabs over where they are. Parking, a little trickier but much better than a van and I've got parking sensors.

People get wound up about the strangest things. My bigger gripe is with self dimming mirrors, they drive me mad!

Edit: Tints also hide my horrendously drab full grey interior hehe
