The results, he says, were unambiguous: “Self-centred men who are argumentative, stubborn, disagreeable and lacking in empathy are much more likely to own a high-status car such as an Audi, BMW or Mercedes . . . These are people who often see themselves as superior and are keen to display this to others.”

Surely not?

Oh for goodness sake, not this again.

The answer is of course no, they are not. BMW drivers are exactly the same as everyone else, given that they sell to such a large proportion of the population. You cannot tar everyone with the same brush etc.

Can PH last more than 5 minutes without a BMW bashing thread?

It's really tedious.

Hang on now. With a study covering one 64,000th of motorists in the UK, I'd say this has all the bases covered for a piece of quality research.

laugh So that'll all be BMW drivers who've responded so far then...

Surprised it is a repost if it's on the front page of today's Times ?

Unless BMW drivers' bad driving is a common theme on PH... jester

Apart from the ones in Nissans, Range Rovers, Toyota taxis, Vauxhalls, Jaguars, Ferraris, Lamborghinis I could go on.

I drive a BMW, my Father used to drive one, and my Grandfather is on his 3rd.

I'm a 3rd generation

I will encourage my children to drive them, and my grandchildren.

We need to keep the bloodline from being muddied by paupers.

This topic here makes poor comments (no surprise there) on a poor report that is written on poor research. It claims that wealthier people have lowest empathy for others. It did this by saying the average second-hand value of cars that stopped at a pedestrian crossing had a value of 5900USD as opposed to an average value of 8000USD for cars that drove on.

Meanwhile in another report in the same paper (Times 26 Feb 2020), it states that the richest are the most shy about their wealth.

So ... just stuff to fill newspapers.
