Probably both from the gesture givers perspective, and you probably deserved it (also from gesturers perspective) hehe

Not every BMW driver fits that stereotype However every every journalist who wants to keep their job must come up with a stream of stories, preferably of the shock horror genre, hence the proliferation of this nonsense.

Personally, I'd stay at home or stick to public transport whenever someone with a BMW looks like they're heading out for a drive. Best by far to leave the roads empty so they don't have anyone to be a censored to. You can't be too careful.

Jeez, the three most y drivers I've known drive a small Renault (not a Clio but that sort of thing), a Volvo XC60 and a Nissan Micra. None of which carry stereotypes of being the wkers' cars of choice, but all were (and in two cases still are) driven in a manner to inflict as much suffering as they can on other road users without actually punching them through an open window.
All three of these people are cock-sockets pretty much 24/7 and when they speak they're usually angry with something outside of their control.

In the very early 1970s, BMW Concessionairs GB ran a very aggressive marketing campaign, which include a sun strip, written in reverse letters, which said “ MOVE OVER...to a BMW “
Because the early BMWs were “ Drivers Cars per excellence “ they certainly attracted a certain type of driver. Usually aggressive.

The 3.0CSL was probably the first real “ Hooligans Car “ and The hooligans car of the 1970s. It’s free reving straight six just begs to be reved hard, combine that with a tail out chassis and .......

When driving a BMW it's blatantly obvious the aggression towards the car increases. It's bizarre behaviour.

You see it on the forums too. When you become that obsessed about something it becomes clear where the issues are. A lot of people have a massive chip on their shoulder when it comes to BMWs.
Absolutely. Strong confirmation bias.

It's a bit like the DCW threads. The DCW goes out of their way to create situations and keeps wrongly thinking it's the other driver at fault. Their prejudice makes them the issue.
Interesting you should say that, but as a massive , also known as a BMW Driver, I don't really notice a massive difference in people's attitudes towards me on the road if I'm in something else, just it's slightly easier to get out of side turnings.

However I am struggling to get my wife to drive my car, as she has mentioned that people's attitudes to her on the road changes completely compared to her old Clio - people driving up her ass, cutting her up etc. She's still a fairly new driver so gets easily spooked, but I have seen some dodgy maneuvers from other people when I've been passengering with her.

So I'd say the biggest s on the road were the chippy wkers who feel the need to take their frustrations around how their life didn't work out as expected on the nearest BMW driver they can find. There's a few on this forum as well, but i wouldn't dream of naming names - mostly as you all know who they are smile

BMWs have dominated the C124PPY plates thread with more than a third of the total posts being cars from that one marque over the last month or so.

Surely that counts for something? biggrin
Sure - Just as you dominating the many and hugely tiresome threads about the cars people buy, the way in which they pay for them and the numbers people put on them does smile

I've heard it pretty often that BMW drivers assume aggression or rudeness towards them is down to 'jealously' or a feeling of inadequacy from someone who somehow haven't managed to be successful or rich enough to drive a BMW.

I drive an old but well maintained 3 series which compared to many cars/ecoboxs/appliances is a far faster and better handling car,now i do indicate and drive to the road conditions, but i will overtake on site any dawldling hat wearing shopping car.Its like some people think theyre not an obstruction until you blast past them and lost site of them in seconds.PS i was i porsche owner previously but need more boot space.

I remember before I'd owned any Bmw's I had some fun with 2 separate E46 M3's in my 200SX...both of them went on the other side of the ballards(central reservations) to try to shake me off(I duly followed though!). I wouldn't call them c**ts...just enthusiastic! driving

After those experiences though I did think that M3 drivers were a bit on the nutty side though in fairness. I gladly kept up the stereotype when I had mine too...sideways out of junctions/lighting the tyres up at traffic lights! biggrin

Well they think correctly then it seems as far as BMW drivers are concerned.
