Love the car, like the colour combo. But, is it just me, or are Mazda seat coverings not hard wearing? My wife's mk1 seat suffered the usual bolster rash (okay, it was 25 years old, but stay with me....) and with summer coming, I've been looking at secondhand mk 4's. Fancy a 2.0 sport nav, but even the low mileage ones look like the drivers seat has come out of a 300k Merc taxi. Not a deal breaker, but irritating. Any owners experience here?
I have a an early car and it's fine but then it is a garage queen/summer only toy with very low miles.Wish Mazda would hurry up and bring back fun colours to their fun car lineup!
You currently have: Grey x4, White, Silver, Bluey-grey and Red. (And you can't even get Red on the top of the line cars).
Bring back yellow, mariner blue, green, etc!
So, thanks 100th Anniversary but I'll be keeping my bright orange 30th Anniversary MX-5.

Another nice looking Limited Edition MX-5.
Just got a lovely 2018 ND2 184 SportNav + in "Ceramic".
Big credit to Mazda for all the internal development of the latest 2.0 litre engine, and making it's performance so much better and fun.
I wonder, in an "Electric Car" world, how much longer we'll have and enjoy this little car - Unless this goes electric one day too!

Lovely combo, the new MX5's really do look like a modern day S2000 to my eyes.
I've had a stab at creating my own modern S2000 with one and I like how it has turned out, bbr super 220 pack with some ohlins and larger anti roll bars. Not tracked it yet, but a lot of fun on road. Glad I took a punt on it, it will be staying! The 30th was a much better spec though with the brembo and recaro seats

I would love to see a the MX-30 running gear put into the MX-5 and offered as an EV alternative.

I love this! I've had a few sleepless nights thinking about doing exactly what you've done to my 30AE RF edition. Agreed its a much better spec. The rays wheels are a great addition too.The 30th was a much better spec though with the brembo and recaro seats

How does it change the car for the better? The thing I don't like about my MX-5 is how rolly the suspension is. Its a shame you mostly have to take the plunge before you know if it was worth it!

I actually had the car go via bbr on its way to me from the dealer! I did do a short test drive in a standard 184bhp RF and even on that short drive I found my foot flat to the floor wanting more and I really didnt like the roll. Both things I guessed I could fix, and thankfully they are now. On the b roads I really rarely get the pedal to the floor now and it has really great mid range. How does it change the car for the better? I would say the anti roll bars probably arent needed for the road, I run the ohlins on 10 out of 30, 30 being the hardest damping setting. But I do live in an area of back roads, not a rally stage, but some lumpy roads here and there so it needs to be that soft to remain stable and to be able to push on. Without the antiroll bars you could probably firm them up a bit for road. Totally different car now, what are you waiting for
My car also has braided brake lines and 10mm spacers, all done by bbr at the same time.

Really interesting feedback, I'm very tempted now.I would say the anti roll bars probably arent needed for the road, I run the ohlins on 10 out of 30, 30 being the hardest damping setting. I noticed you also had an exige in the garage. When looking to buy the MX-5, the only other car I was considering was a new Elise 220 (or perhaps a used v6 exige).
Since I've never seen anyone who's owned both a BBR MX-5 and a newer lotus, I'd be really interested in hearing your thoughts on comparison of them both!
Is the lotus worth the money, or can you customise the Mazda to be just as fun?
