Yep it s really frightening how much money some people are throwing at these things- even if you relatively wealthy or have a significant income it makes no sense- if you can afford the massive spend on tickets you could almost certainly buy the things you actually want and come out much better off.

Considering you could buy every ticket for any given raffle, have 100% chance of winning and still expect to typically have paid 60% more than the value of the prize, spending thousands for a <1% chance just doesn t make any sense at all.

The only way to really win is to be extremely lucky, spend very little and win big early on before either walking away or keeping your spend minimal and not getting carried away.

Unfortunately I m not sure how viable these sites would be without those big spenders, it s really quite problematic. It’s going to take someone ruining their life causing a lot of negative press before anything changes.

As per the other thread on this topic, unfortunately it's the people that are not weathly who get drawn into over spending on these that are the sad problem. Especially given these sites allow credit card payment, which regulations don't allow traditional gambling sites to do.

Suddenly you've spent £1000 on tickets on your credit card and can't pay that off in full, next month same again until financial ruin.

Had a decent run on Revs in the past month, almost £200 in credit for a £10-£20 spend on the bolt ons and some free credit draws. Conscious that I've not actually won anything of value but nice to receive anyway. That low odds E46 M3 is calling me.

Elite been doing get your money back as credit on their house comp atm, dome it a couple of times, not bad tbf, only time id buy tickets normally on their site. I domt know if anyone saw that lifechanger comp, with the 4 bed house still left until 98/99% tickets sold, and a 50k watch, was on sunday evening, literally 80k tickets left, on sale, then 50k left, 30k left, thought whoever buys lots now has a mega chance and guarenteed major profit, max tickets 15k each person, someone or 2 people could buy rest and be pretty much guaranteed the house.

However at 35k tickets left, lots of times everyone complaining they cant add any tickets to basket, including myself. Elite said it is just the rush and everyone holding some tickets in their baskets and they had to delete tickets held if more than a few minutes in their basket. My opinion is that, say a few people holding max tickets in their basket and effectively not letting anyone else buy them, then 1 person buys a couple thousand at once until they win the house(taking turns between each other) as it was going down by 2k chunks every minute or 2-it displays instantly ticket numbers left, and the winning ticket will likely be in one of a few people holding most of the tickets basket. Call me cynical but it seemed like that what was going on. Also i noticed all winning ticket numbers were 0-1million numbers and any 1-2million were losing tickets, barring the main end 10k prize. Mad it was, did anyone see that? Thats how rich people get richer I guess biggrin i spent 50 or so and had enough, anyone with money to burn couldve almost guaranteed a 300k prize.

The freebie is to win max entries to the comp for the car, not the car

Is that Elite specifically, or all of the car lottery sites?

Whats the thinking behind that reason tho?

As in if a comp has 10000 entrys. And i want and buy one entry. I dont care if 9999 other people buy 1 entry each, or one person buys the other full remaining 9999.

They need to have a UKGC gambling licence and be connected to gamstop before google will even look at their application.

For mine above what I noticed is that certain people come in when there are lots of instants win prizes ie the top ones left til 70% or 90% sold etc and then buy up in bulk, I am sure groups of friends (lets overlook most of them from Blackpool or Cleveleys too- are they all just mega loaded lol), come in and get the top prizes, when the odds are good, and that way are able to circumvent the max ticket restrictions (even though they are generous already-15k tickets at £2 each on elite lifechanger one is £30k in tickets each). Of course this may just be people with money or big spenders who seek out good odds on comps and go big on them, fairs I guess.

For regular comps then yeah it doesn't impact a lot just frustrating for those who spend like £10-50 or something on a few tickets. The 4 top prizes in the life changer ie 2 houses, 250k cash and 200k porsche all were sold after approx 64% tickets sold, the chances of which happening is less than 2%, so it's as if they release the bigger ones only after a certain number sold maybe half etc.
