Are the two pictures above of different years or models, or did Mercedes purposely move the red hazard light switch and the EC switch around for sts and giggles?

It is pretty easy to move the switches round yourself if you are so inclined!

Climate control in a 124 has a horizontal bank of switches. The car in question does not have a/c so the higher temperature settings just blow air out at roughly that temperature without modulation, and the lower temperatures depend on the outside ambient air temperature.

This could potentially be a nice car.

Doesn't mention why the seller was given the car (presumably some kind of work/or a yearly service) however a fresh battery and maybe a cheeky CR pro / MB V2.0 with RED 38 pin adapter could tell you why the SRS light is on.

Facelift? CL500 with sensible miles, under £2k.

Lots of car for well under £2k.

Does look to be riding high which I suppose is a novelty for these when the ABC is goosed and they’re slammed over the tyres. Still may require some remedials though!
Seems VERY cheap. Last V5 issue in 2015 which is sort of promising, unless it is now broken. Riding high may just have the high button pressed.

Anyone closer to me for a brief viewing? (1h each way) it is in Slough..

Well put! I have had all three - the non aircon one like the one above (the werthers W124), the standard air con with vertical buttons (my first rusty green one which got me into this thread) and the climate one with horizontal buttons (my current 320).

A satisfying level of geek on this thread!

This one's a bit, err bad boy. 5.5k. Wheels to sell and reduce that perhaps.

I might be able. Best to give him a call and sound him out first.

Hello bargers!

My lease is going back next week so I need a barge! I currently drive 200 miles a day either down the A1 or M11 so pretty constant speed all the way up and down.

Need something that's going to be pretty reliable (mechanic father who can fix things when needed).

I've been looking at the V70 posted a few pages back, and a Honda Legend. These piqued my interest for the Adaptive Cruise Control which will be great for my commuting.

Throw some options at me..
Got a bit lost amongst other chat so just reviving it.

Been looking further in the Legend and it really does fit the bill with having ACC...but there must be some issues with them?

Yes the petrol seems too much money. I'd be looking at old-shape E3 D5s, there's often 1-ownerish, FSHs around the classifieds for bottom thread and a bit (in amongst the dross, that is).
...or indeed well sub-thread.

Popped up on shed thread and looks like exactly the type of thing I was talking about: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203030427803

You're now too late for Autodoc this weekend. Euro Car Parts will deliver to an exhaust place, they do both Halfords Autocentres and Kwik-Fit now. Best to find a local place near to where you'll be, give them your VIN and possibly the last registered UK plate and ask them to get an exhaust or components in for you. Ideally get it inspected before you travel for a quote and ask them to show you and explain on the ramp what has gone. Backwards of the catalytic converter is called the mid section, you may have a Y-pipe from the mids to backboxes, I'm unfamiliar with what you have.

If you really aren't sure, pre book a custom exhaust place that won't baulk if you mention the words mandrel bend. I've had a quick Google and there's Maniflow https://www.maniflow.co.uk/?view=category&cate... but I can't see if they're open on Saturday or that they do fitting (images on Google Maps suggest they do) or there's Powerflow near Southampton if you're travelling that way or Powerflow in Shaftesbury. Any of those can weld in replacements or quote appropriately, I'm sure. Strongly recommend you call them ASAP to avoid disappointment. Feel free to PM if I can help any more.
That's really helpful Betts88, thank you.

As things stand, I'm booked-in with an exhaust place in Shaftesbury who can, according to my ex-wife, 'repair holes in exhausts'. I'll give that a go but I'm only around for such a short time that they won't be able to order parts so I may have to see if they can bodge something and then get a new one fitted once I'm back. It's not in any way anti-social but it slightly detracts from the zen-like calm that a barge otherwise offers whilst smashing continental borders!

As an aside, the cost of a new exhaust over here will probably exceed the value of the car, so I find myself in that awkward position of stick or twist and wondering, once again, whether or not to just buy a tax-free LHD new car.
If you can, try to get time to have a wander around Shaftesbury - it's a lovely little town (I grew up and work there). There's a fantastic baguette shop (The Baguette Bar), which being over the road from my office I can highly recommend!

Yes, hideous plastic dash and big tax. It's a wonder they sell tbh.

Is ACC an essential? I'd think getting a job closer to home would be easier myself, as would comfort if you're spending that much time in the car. And a big fuel tank.

A8 worth a shout, S80's had it in I can't remember what pack. They're quiet and comfy.

Thank you for your reply. ACC isn't essential but just a big help more than anything, have it in our current XC90 and it definitely makes it less tiring.

If any of you frequent YouTube, the guy from the M539 restorations channel has just bought a cheap E60 M5 6 speed manual and there’s a rather good video of him fixing it.
