Wasn’t me although I was tempted. The manual box was the obstacle for me.
I test drove the Saab below yesterday - the 190e manual could not be worse

This S320 needs a good COVID haggle to get it inside top thread, but it'd be worth a shot. It has the mercurial "lots" of paperwork and history, but sitting on only 53,000 miles it could be a corker. Delicious and edible-looking interior at least.

A pair of Volvos...

A £2495 manual 740 GL, inviting offers, showing as 79,000 miles with a good ad - plus, some reassuringly thread vehicles in the background.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-740-GL-Estate-198...

A £1695 auto 940 Torslanda, with a fair few more miles, a grating all-caps ad, but the plausible threat of a fully stamped history.

Featured many, many times this car has. Sometimes in thread budget, normally just over.

Big gap in the MOT history, hasn’t moved much in years either.. don’t think that will have done it any favours if pressed into regular action

Long term reader / dreamer of this thread. Hopefully what Ive bought today lets me join the gang ! Had a few division 1 barges in the past, 2 x Saab 9-5 Aero estates and a E39 530i Touring but maybe i have moved up a league.

From what i understand from these pages, to qualify it needs to have a big engine, petrol, lots of toys, auto ? and more importantly, serve no purpose other than to smoke around in .

Only have 2 of the sellers photos at the moment as it needs decontaminating, but at thread minimum here it is

CL500, 126k, more than half the toys work, and comes with free rust.

At best its a 10 yard car, well maybe a 20 yard car, get closer and you can see the badly matched paint from rust repairs, bit more rust on the doors, cracked rear screen, but it gets down the road pretty quickly and sounds great. At this price it was nothing i wasnt expecting, and the seller showed me all the defects.

So small issues that hopefully wont rape me, keyless go not working, demister stays on permanently, little bits of trim broken, front parking sensors have fallen out , wheel noise from front drivers side i think and needs a good clean. no doubt will find some more in the next few weeks

Med issue - paint

Potential biggie - ABC suspension drops after its been sat for a week or so but resets back to normal once you start it. Is that a normal thing or a starter to the main course of bork ?

Anyhow its MOT'd till September so could get a few months out of it, we shall see. Will post more up once its clean

My 190e spent a few years off the road. Apart from needing some attention to the cooling system it was good to go.

I agree. I have an X5 and am on a couple of fb owners groups - cant believe the number of folk on there referring to them as Jeeps. Makes me incandescent with rage I tell thee..!!
I can almost excuse people who call it a jeep as theyre indifferent to them but to actually be interested in cars enough to join a group and still call it a jeep is pretty dire.

Was it really bad? How was the car otherwise?

I bookmarked this car just this morning, following a conversation with Mrs Kul. Almost ten years since I bought and refurbished a 900 t16s (which she barely used for 6 years) she has decided that she wants another to replace her v90. Tempted to buy our old one back, as she wants the same (custom) Colour combination as before. FFS.

Isn't this the AMG where virtually everything is bespoke AMG to it ? So costs a fortune to run.
Think I heard before that the C43 is better to run because they robbed things like the brakes off other cars so maintenance is cheaper.

A couple of Saab beards think it’s a 4k car based on photos I took. It’s the first one I’ve driven, so nothing to compare it to.
Nice colour, lots of money spent on rust remediation with Paradise Saab (since demised). The storage company didn’t do a good job presentation wise - brakes were non existent and ABS light was constantly on, tyres were out of round so thumped down the road and fuel reserve light was on so didn’t dare go longer than a few mins down the road.
I spent more time talking Vantages with the co-owner of the storage place than the Saab.

It may work out for you, but the beards suggested I avoid. I’ve got more pics if you want them, email me.

That interior is just GORGEOUS.
Gor-geeee-ussssss

I could smother it in sauce and eat it. It's almost worth buying it just for those seats. If the car failed catastrophically you could make a most pleasant sofa and two office chairs from them seats.

Home after multiple train journeys down to Bedhampton near Portsmouth and then a decent walk - but I can report that what trains there are run like clockwork at the moment smile

C70 here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ik1agPPdCdsCCBq47 I did get fuel but it was at a small local station and I didn't want to incur the wrath of the people queueing to get on the forecourt, so it's at home (and rather spoilt by a grumpy SORNed S60 hiding behind it frown The XC70 family bus wasn't back at that point, but now it is, we look like right Volvo gonks with 3 side-by-side - it wasn't really a conscious decision so go all-Volvo, but each of them seems to answer the particular need very well (and having a really good Indy 8 or so miles away does help, too).

First impressions? Feels very nicely screwed together indeed. T5 makes a T5 noise, which is nice, and cruises very well indeed (and economically, at least that's what it claims sans proper calculation). Everything is still working, FSH, I'm 3rd owner in 13years, paint's in excellent nick, with only a little rubbing on the driver's seat's pale leather, and no rattles that I can hear. The AW55 will get one or two ATF fluid refreshes by way of preventative maintenance, but everything else has been done on the button, and judging by the receipts almost all repairs done at a Volvo Main Dealer only a mile or so from the previous owner's (delightful guy, the easiest and most gentlemanly transaction I've ever done) house.

Encouraging start, and wife & child seem to think I've done OK at 2 bags exactly.

(Oh and we are deliberately killing the ivy on the old estate wall behind before it pulls the entire wall down!)

I think that it looks very tidy indeed. Volvos of this era wear pastel shades well, certainly our V70 in mistral green was a looker.
